Bothell

Bothell is a city in King and Snohomish counties in the State of Washington, it is part of the Seattle metropolitan area, situated near the northeast end of Lake Washington. This thriving riverfront community has undergone some exciting changes to the downtown area. Bothell offers great parks, recreation opportunities, quality schools, excellent restaurants, and retail. The town of Bothell has grown tremendously from a small suburban town of less than 8,000 in population to almost six times that. The indigenous Sammamish people or “willow people” inhabited the Sammamish River Valley since the 1800s, the larger of the groups “tlah-WAH-dees” settled near Kenmore and Bothell. The first Americans to claim the lower Sammamish River valley were filed in 1870 by Columbus S. Greenleaf and George R. Wilson, eight families followed over the next six years. Canadian George Brackett bought the land in 1876 and began commercial logging located in the heart of downtown Bothell. A store, a school, and a sawmill were added over the next several years. In 1855, Brackett sold 80 acres to David Bothell, a settler and American Civil War veteran from Pennsylvania. Bothell was officially incorporated on April 14, 1909.
