Day 1 in Dominical - Uvita

Welcome to Dominical! Upon arrival at the airport, you will go through customs and immigration. Should you opt to purchase a transfer to your hotel; a representative will be waiting for you as you exit immigration. Arrive at your hotel, check in and head out to see the city! There is so much for you to see and do!

We recommend you get acquainted with the area, explore the beachfront town of Dominical where most of the accommodations, restaurants, and shops run along the beach road. Find a serene spot to sit and enjoy some lunch with some of the best views around. Wander the shops for that perfect Costa Rican souvenir and head to the beach.

Playa Dominical stretches for 2 ½ miles, covered with soft white sand and is a world-renowned surfing location. Watch the surfers catch the perfect wave and walk along the beach lined with palm trees, taking in the lush verdant green backdrop of the mountains and jungle.

Capture a stunning sunset on the beach and head back to the beach strip for a cold refreshment. Choose from one of the many restaurants and bars found along the strip to enjoy dinner and drinks while soaking up the beachside atmosphere.

Day 2 in Dominical - Uvita

Start your day bright and early, head into the lush hills for a refreshing hike or horseback ride through gorgeous tropical surroundings and arrive at the famous Nauyaca Waterfalls. These dramatic two-tiered falls cascade from a combined height of 200 feet, splashing into a deep (19 feet) sparkling natural pool. Jump into the pool from the rocks and cool down in the refreshing waters, enjoy a picnic in these breathtaking surroundings.

Next stop is the Marino Ballena National Park, this massive park covers 110 hectares of land, 5,400 hectares of water and the largest coral reef on the Pacific Coast of Central America. Its name comes from the Humpback Whales (Ballena translates to whale in Spanish) that migrate to the area from December to April. If you are visiting during this season be sure to take a whale watching tour to see these spectacular mammals in all their glory.

The national park offers 9 miles of stunning coastline lined by breathtaking beaches backed by cliffs and towering green mountains. Spend some time soaking up the sunshine on the unspoiled beaches and cooling off in the sparkling sea. Do some snorkeling offshore where you will see an abundance of marine life swimming below. Take a Kayak or SUP tour over the calm clear waters to discover the beauty of the waters in the region.

Visit the small town of Uvita famous for its shore shaped phenomenon the `Whale`s Tail`. Two beaches merge together at a peninsula here and the rock covered sandbar forms the shape of a whale`s tail during low tide.

Head to Uvita town set in the heart of the national park, dine at one of the cafes or restaurants here after a busy day of adventures. Sip on tropical cocktails and soak up the charming beachside village atmosphere.

Day 3 in Dominical - Uvita

Wake up today and explore the scenic wonders that Costa Ballena (Whale Coast) has to offer. You can spend the morning ziplining high above the lush jungle interiors, hike through the verdant hills and cool off in one of the majestic waterfalls in the jungle.

Take a boat tour out on the spectacular waters of the Pacific and do some snorkeling or diving in the crystal clear waters to uncover the hidden world of marine life below.

Take a dolphin and whale watching boat tour, the whale coast is the place where several different species of whales can be seen year round. The warm waters here are a seasonal breeding ground to Humpbacks, Bryde`s and Pilot Whales with two separate migrations that spread throughout several months of the year. On a tour, you can get up close and personal with these amazing mammals in a once in a lifetime experience.

Visit the Ventanas 'windows' beach which gets its name from the intriguing windows carved into the caves on the beach. These caves or windows can be explored during low-tide. The waters here are calm and great for swimming, kayaking, and snorkeling and is the location where leatherback and Kemp`s ridley sea turtles come to lay their eggs.

Boca Brava is an island which is part of the Golfo Chiriqui National Park that covers 14,000 hectares of land and ocean. Take a boat ride out to the island filled with natural beauty and stroll the beaches or hike through the trails. Take some time to enjoy a vibrant sunset and dinner at one of the waterfront restaurants.

Additional Days in Dominical - Uvita

If you are able to spend additional days in Dominical - Uvita plan your time on the Whale Coast during some of the events and festivals held throughout the year. The Festival of Whales and Dolphins held in September is when whale watching tours are discounted, a community fair takes place with food, vendors and live music. The Envision Festival is a huge music and art festival that brings thousands of like-minded individuals together in late February and early March.

Go hiking in Hacienda Baru, a wildlife refuge with over 4 miles of trails decorated with flora, fauna, and wildlife through the jungle with lookout points. There are evening tours and overnight stays offered at the Hacienda Baru Lodge.

Your Last Day in Dominical - Uvita

Depart from your hotel to the airport for your return flight home. We recommend that you purchase a private transfer to the airport if so the representative will meet you at your hotel with plenty of time to get you to the airport for your flight out.
