Frankfurt

Frankfurt is the financial capital of Germany. A closer look reveals there is much more to offer; from arts, outdoors, and shopping, to historic buildings and high-rises. It has long been an important center for cultural and tourism activities. Its huge trade fair complex, Messe Frankfurt, hosts important events such as the Frankfurt Book Fair (the world's most important publishing event). The city is known for its exceptional number of fine museums covering art, science, and history. The traditional cider pubs in Sachsenhausen and the 'Fressgass' (eating street) should not be missed.

Koblenz

Koblenz has a rich history dating back over 2000 years. The city is surrounded by four low mountain ranges and forms a triangle with the Mosel and Rhine rivers. Directly where the Rhine River meets the Mosel River is one of its major landmarks, the so-called German Corner (Deutsches Eck). On top of the hill on the Rhine shore the old fortress, Ehrenbreitstein, overlooks Koblenz and the German Corner. Strolling around the Old Town feels like walking in an open air museum. The many statues and monuments on the squares around town are evidence of the long history that the city is known for.

Erfurt

Located in central Germany, Erfurt is the capital city of Turingia. The city was almost perfectly preserved during the wars and retains its old houses, churches, and bridges designed in Renaissance and Baroque styles. Martin Luther, father of the Protestant Reformation, was ordained in the Cathedral of St. Mary, whose origins date to the 8th century. Next to the cathedral is the Gothic Church of St. Severus. The Augustinerkloster is a monastery where Martin Luther lived as a monk. The Krämerbrücke Bridge (1325), stretching over the Gera River, has medieval houses and shops, and is a pleasant place for a stroll.
