Olympia
Olympia, was home to the first Olympic Games and was in use for over a thousand years. Here, the fittest and strongest ancient Greeks competed against one another to demonstrate their physical prowess and to pay tribute to their gods. The first Olympiad was held in 776 BC, and every four years afterward, ancient Greeks gathered to watch or compete in these athletic competitions.
