GETTING AROUND ADDO ELEPHANT NATIONAL PARK
Visitors can get around the park by driving on the 40-mile road network that includes gravel roads, tarred roads, and a 28-mile 4x4 route.
There are a few different options when choosing how to get around the park. There are self-driving options throughout the park on the tourist roads, hop-on guided tours available at the Game Drives Reception office, and organized game drives and walking safaris.
Organized game drives with an experienced guide are offered from your accommodations. These drives depart at set times in the morning, afternoon, and some in the evening. Guests are driven in an open 4x4 through different areas of the park with a knowledgeable guide who points out the wildlife.
There are half and full-day game drives, and different animals are active at different times so the full day gives you the best opportunity to see the most action.
You can drive around and explore the park with your own two wheels. This gives you the freedom and flexibility to go at your own pace and stop as often and for as long as you wish to concentrate on the species you are interested in.
On FootThere are a number of walking and hiking trails throughout Addo National Park. There are bush walks, nature walks, and night safaris offered in the park. These tours are on foot with a professional ranger.
