4: Elbow Beach

Next we will visit the Elbow Beach which is one of the longest beaches on the island underneath the Elbow Beach Hotel.

Cooper's Island Nature Reserve (Pass by)

Lastly, we hop back into our air-conditioned transportation and drive to the southeastern tip of the island to experience a clearwater beach for a duration of four hours where you will be dropped off to explore on your own the 12 acre nature reserve and wildlife observation tower which is home to sea birds, pretty flowers and plants, and friendly sea turtles that mingle with the parrot fish . Although restricted to the public until 1995, this natural wonder land is all yours for the rest of the day as you are free to enjoy the amenities in the area alongside five other pristine beaches within walking distance as you enjoy your complimentary handcrafted Bermuda rum swizzle, as you sip, sunbathe and soak yourself in the sea. Make your way to the tour center at Bermuda's Royal Naval Dockyard. Meet your guide and get a short orientation, safety lesson and rundown of all the Segway's controls. Don your helmet, hop on and try a few laps on a practice course. Once you're fully comfortable, you and your group are ready to hit the road.

Glide through the Royal Naval Dockyard, listening to your guide's commentary on wireless headsets. As you pass landmarks such as the Historic Sail Loft, the Victualling Yard, the Casemates Prison and the Clocktower Mall, learn about the culture, history and traditions of Bermuda. Some History: Tobacco Bay played an important role in the American war for independence through the infamous Gunpowder Plot of 1775. On the night of August 15th, 1775 a group of Bermudians, sympathetic to the American cause led by Colonel Henry Tucker, stole 100 barrels of gunpowder from the British Powder Magazine. The barrels were rolled down a hill to Tobacco Bay, Bermudian whaling vessels transported the cargo onto two American schooners waiting nearby, the Lady Catherine and the Packet.
