    Managua

In the Nahuatl language, Managua means, 'where there is an extension of water.' This aptly describes Nicaragua's bustling capital city, to the north is Lake Managua (Lake Xolotlan), and sparkling volcanic lagoons such as Asososca, Xiloa and Apoyeque surround the city. Lagoon Tiscapa is in the center of Managua. Behind the city is the Momotombo Volcano witch still belches an occasional puff of white smoke.

Visit the Old Cathedral of Managua, Rubén Darío National Theater, Luis Alfonso Velasquez Park, National Palace of Culture, Tiscapa Lagoon Natural Reserve, and so much more.

  • San Juan del Sur

A couple of hours from the capital, San Juan del Sur is a mandatory destination for cruise ships from the US, Canada and Europe and for all tourists visiting Nicaragua. San Juan del Sur is a fishing port, now home to the world, which offers all types of hostels and comfortable hotels. Its beautiful bay and its hospitable and happy people make this town a special and magical place that currently represents a symbol of tourist development, with a great gastronomic and hotel offer.

Leon was the capital city of Nicaragua for over 200 years until replaced by Managua in 1851.
