Iquitos, the capital of Loreto, is the main port on the Amazon River and the largest settlement in the Peruvian jungle. High Water Season (November - May)
Our crew will be expecting your arrival at the airport, then transfer all together in our comfortable private vehicle. We will start you off with a lunchbox as we begin the journey to Nauta. Nauta is a small riverside town on the banks of the Maranon River and was the first city founded in the department of Loreto. Aboard the Delfin you will be served by our qualified staff who will introduce you to your exquisite and cozy suite.
While the Delfin begins its initial navigation, your naturalist guide will give you an overview of your journey’s schedule, activities, route, highlights, wildlife and vegetation, geographical and historical background, and other useful details. Later, we head down into the Marañon River to a location known as Pahuachiro. This lovely spot is an ideal place to spend some time in search of birds and playful monkeys. We will also visit Nauta Cano Creeek, known for squirrel and silver back tamarillo monkeys, birds, dolphins, and even sloths.
Early in the morning we will jump on the skiffs and head to this area with large trees and old palm trees as well, these components favor the presence of several parrot species. In the afternoon you will start cruising through the Yanayacu and Pucate Rivers, peeking into different creeks and lagoons. This is one of the best preserved and protected zones of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve.
You will also get to the only Canopy Walkway in this area, an experience unequaled in the rainforest! At a height of over 25 meters (85 feet) and extending for 500 meters (one-third of a mile), the Canopy Walkway provides a view of the rainforest from the treetops, the best vantage point for observing Amazon wildlife and vegetation. Lastly, you will visit the village of Yachay, a flyspeck that receives few outside visitors.
You will start cruising through the creeks of Yanayaquillo, peeking into different creeks and lagoons. This is also a popular dolphin feeding spot. Then, we head down into the Maranon River to a location known as Pirana Cano.
This lovely creek which leads to a lagoon is an ideal place to spend some time in search of birds and playful monkeys. Kayakers will endure the feeling of paddling down the river with only the noises of the forest as your companion. As for the skiff riders, the encounters with wildlife are abundant. With an orange moon rising you will enjoy a night walk, as night approaches, your guide will take you on a night safari in search of caiman alligators and night birds.
Disembark in the port of Nauta, where our ground crew will be waiting to take you by our private vehicle back to the city of Iquitos. On our way from Nauta back to Iquitos airport, you will visit the Rescue and Rehabilitation Center of River Mammals (ACOBIA) where you will have the chance to meet baby manatees and learn about these wonderful and docile creatures and why they are on the endangered species list. Lastly, our land personnel will wait for you at the airport and give your boarding passes and help you check in.
Low Water Season (June - October)

While the Delfin begins its initial navigation, our bartender will be waiting to serve you with an exotic cocktail made with regional fruits and pisco, then, your naturalist guide will give you an overview of your journey’s schedule, activities, route, highlights, wildlife and vegetation, geographical and historical background, and other useful details.
Early in the morning, you will head for this spectacular tributary spot within the Pacaya Samiria Reserve in our skiffs where you will also experience an unforgettable encounter with gray and pink river dolphins. In the afternoon, wildlife will greet you and the biodiversity you will experience will be outstanding. You will have the chance to enjoy some of the myriad bird species, colorful, butterflies and other diverse insects, and noisy monkey troops, and when the night shift strikes, you’ll encounter a whole new world of adventure.
After breakfast, we will begin an exploration at Clavero Lake on board of our aluminum skiff, where you will have the chance to get deep into the rainforest and its fantastic diversity of flora and fauna. Next, we will venture along the Yarapa River, where you can explore the tributary in the kayaks and listen closely for the sounds from within the mysterious jungle. Next, we will venture out on board our skiffs where you will visit the community of Puerto Miguel to meet local villagers who have called Amazonia their home for generations.
Disembark in the port of Nauta, where our ground crew will be waiting to take you by our private vehicle back to the city of Iquitos.
