Day 1 in Lombok

Welcome to Lombok! Upon arrival at the airport, you will go through customs and immigration. Should you opt to purchase a transfer to your hotel; a representative will be waiting for you as you exit immigration. Arrive at your hotel, check in and do not give in to jet lag! There is so much for you to see and do!

We recommend you get acquainted with the laidback island of Lombok. Take a colorful authentic `cidomo` horse-drawn cart ride around the town, a good local method of transportation. Stop in at one of the beachfront eateries found along the coast and enjoy a delicious lunch and a tropical cocktail.

Take a relaxing ride on a traditional `perahu` fishing boat found all along the water`s edge in Lombok. These large bamboo boats can be chartered to see the beautiful sights of the island from the sparkling ocean waters.

Lombok is famous for its pearl farms, where some of the prettiest pearls in Southeast Asia are cultivated. Visit a pearl farm such as Autore Pearl Farm and take a tour and learn about the pearl harvesting process and pick up a precious gem for yourself in the showroom.

As evening time approaches, head up the Bukit Merese Hill which is a spectacular spot for sunset. Grab yourself a freshly chopped coconut, an ice cold beer or refreshing water in the parking lot at the bottom of the hill and hike to a vantage point. Sit back, relax and watch an impressive sunset as the sky changes into a multitude of colors before your eyes.

Enjoy some authentic local cuisine in town at any of the local restaurants, many have beautiful views of the ocean. Relax after dinner and take in the beachside scenery and take a stroll along the soft sands before heading back to your hotel for a restful night`s sleep.

Day 2 in Lombok

Head out early this morning for a rewarding hike around the Rinjani National Park which surrounds the massive Mount Rinjani. This magnificent mountain sits at the center of the island soaring up 12,224 feet above sea level. This is the second tallest active volcano in Indonesia and features a giant crater lake at 6,600 feet with deep blue waters that resemble the ocean. Take in the breathtaking panorama over the islands and enjoy the beautiful topography.

After your hike, make your way to Tiu Kelep, the most famous waterfalls on the island, set in the hills past Sendang Gile. The beautiful falls are set in a lush tropical jungle setting and can be reached via a short walk past the river. The falls features rock ledges where you can jump into the pools below and swim in the refreshing waters that flow from Gunung Rinjani. The sparkling falls cascade down 147 feet and there is a tunnel with a concrete shoot which is used as a slide. Enjoy a picnic lunch here in the shade while enjoying the outdoors.

Once back in town, indulge yourself in a traditional massage. Local Sasak women offer massage services in the main tourist areas of the island, especially along the beaches in Senggigi and Mangsit.

Make your way to one of the many beautiful beaches found on Lombok. There are several idyllic beaches on the south coast of the island including Semeti, Kuta and Tanjung Aan Beach, which is a beautiful stretch of soft white sands and crystal clear waters. The beach lies in a giant horseshoe-shaped bay which is ideal for swimming and snorkeling, there are plenty of trees for shade with breathtaking views of the rocks and hills situated behind the beach.

Snorkeling and Diving are popular activities in the beautiful pristine waters that surround Lombok. The seas are clear and calm creating the perfect conditions to see underwater marine life including vibrant tropical fish and sea turtles.

Enjoy some drinks and refreshments at the row of restaurants and stalls dotted around the bay. Fresh coconuts are sold along the beach and there are sunbeds available along with iconic swings found in the water.

Tonight take a cooking class and learn how to cook different Indonesian cuisine with local ingredients. This is a fun way to learn about Indonesian food and culture and enjoy the fruits of your labor with a delicious home-cooked meal.

Day 3 in Lombok

Today head out to explore the captivating trio of Gili islands found just 20 minutes off the northwest coast of Lombok. The Gili Archipelago is a famous holiday destination consisting of Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air and the secret Gili Layer, all of which offer a relaxed laid back island atmosphere, some of the best diving and snorkeling in the country and a happening nightlife scene. These gorgeous islands are ringed by white sands and vibrant coral reefs providing holidaymakers with the perfect grounds for relaxation and spectacular views. There is no motorized transport allowed on the islands, make your way around on foot, bicycle or horse-drawn buggy`s to explore the beachside bars, quaint shops, and unspoiled beaches. The nightlife here is very popular with party goers with full moon parties on the beaches that last into the early hours.

If you are into fishing take a guided fishing charter out for a half day or full day on the beautiful waters for some deep sea fishing where tuna, trevally, barracuda, and mackerel can be caught. There are plenty of vibrant coral reefs, sea walls and deep channels that surround Lombok and the Gili Islands with plenty of diverse spots to fish.

Visit some of the intriguing temples found on Lombok, many of them dating back to the 17th century when the Bali Kingdom was in control of Lombok Island. The Mayura Temple is a historical landmark on the island built by King AA Made Karangasem, a pilgrimage site for Hindus offering vast pools, water gardens, and the main temple complex.

Pura Lingsar is the most important and holiest temple found on Lombok, a beautiful sanctuary nestled in the lush rice fields featuring a temple for the Balinese Hindus and one for the followers of Lombok`s mystical take on Islam, the Wektu Telu religion. There is a famous pool of water here which is sacred to the deity Vishnu and the Perang Topat Festival is held here annually.

Make your way to Pink Beach (also known as Tangsi Beach) situated on the far southeastern coast of Lombok featuring unique pink colored sand created by thousands of coral pieces and shells in the sand giving it the pink hue. This picturesque beachfront boasts sun beds and loungers with an umbrella for shade and vendors selling food and refreshments. The tranquil waters here are ideal for swimming and this is a magical location to capture a stunning sunset with a breathtaking vista situated just above the beach on a hillside.

Head to Kuta or Senggigi beach for a delicious dinner where you can find a variety of offerings including Indonesian food, freshly caught seafood, pasta, pizza, burgers and more. Try the local specialty `ayam Taliwang` a spicy chicken recipe.

Senggigi also offers numerous bars and clubs that feature drinks and evening entertainment and music. A local favorite is `tuak` a red or white fermented palm wine.

Additional Days in Lombok

If you are able to spend additional days in Lombok visit the Sukarara Village, a traditional village the produces `songket` weaving. Watch locals produce a handwoven fabric with ornaments of gold-colored synthetic yarn, silver, and other colors.

Visit Tetebatu village situated close to the slopes of Mount Rinjani, a quaint village surrounded by gleaming emerald rice terraces and paddies filled with enchanting beauty which makes for picture perfect photos.

Your Last Day in Lombok

Depart from your hotel to the airport for your return flight home. We recommend that you purchase a private transfer to the airport if so the representative will meet you at your hotel with plenty of time to get you to the airport for your flight out.
