TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK

Tortuguero National Park

Tortuguero is one of the most visited National Parks in Costa Rica, and hosts species of amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals in the hundreds, as well as, literally, thousands of different trees and plants. There are no roads leading here, so visitors arrive either by boat or plane, which has helped to preserve the area's pristine environment, and eco-systems. Tortuguero's shoreline is also one of the world's most important nesting sanctuaries for Sea Turtles. Accommodations here are rustic, but extremely comfortable and designed to enhance the natural environment. Visitors to Tortuguero National Park, leave behind modern distractions and experience the grandeur of our planet's fascinating, and rapidly disappearing natural treasures.

One of the world's most extensive nesting areas for giant sea turtles, Tortuguero offers visitors a number of fascinating turtle related experiences, as well as endless opportunities to observe wildlife, including guided and self-guided kayak excursions that meander through the pristine canals of this remarkable National Park. There are optional kayaking tours, night walking tours, turtle search tours and more, depending on your interests. Activities may also include fishing, canopy tours, aquatic bicycles and various animal observatories.
