SALALAH - GETTING AROUND

By Bus

The city is divided into 2 zones, A and B. Travelling within the zones will cost you only OMR 0.2. If you commute across zones, it'll cost you OMR 0.3 or more, depending on your destination.

By Taxi

Taxis are considered the most common means of public transportation in Salalah. The taxi drivers are well acquainted with all of Salalah's attractions and will get you around with ease. You can even take a taxi from the city to attractions outside the city. Taxi fares start at OMR 2 for 1.8 miles and this is the minimum fare.

By Car

Hiring a car in Salalah is recommended for exploring. Or, hiring a car with a driver is a great option as well. The drivers typically provide some great information and most of the drivers speak very good English. Plus, you don’t have to concentrate on driving. The roads are generally very well maintained.

If you rent a car, 2WD cars are adequate for most sights within Salalah itself. Outside of Salalah, however, many places of tourist interest lie off road, and SUVs are recommended particularly during the khareef season because of slippery terrain.

Book your car well in advance if you plan to visit during this peak period, as rental agencies often run out of vehicles. The main car-hire companies can be found on arrival at the airport, and Budget is represented at the Crowne Plaza Resort. Many local companies offer cars for rent, especially along 23 July St.

By Walking

It is possible to explore parts of Salalah on foot, as most places of interest are close to each other. During warmer times of year, though, walking may not be the best idea.
