Airport

The Comodoro Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport is the main Chilean gateway for international flights into the country. The airport is situated in Pudahuel, about 11 miles away from the city center of Santiago. It is served by the 6 lane expressway Costanera Norte, which crosses over the city from West to East.

The airport and close vicinity feature many hotels, making it a convenient location to stay when traveling in and out of the city. Some of these hotels include the Holiday Inn, which is connected to the airport, Hotel Diego de Almagro situated 1.24 miles away, The Hilton Garden Inn Santiago Airport hotel is around 1.73 miles away, and The LQ Hotel Santiago Airport situated 1.73 miles away. The airport offers an abundance of stores and over 21 different restaurants, coffee shops and bars.

Downtown

The Centro, or Downtown area of Santiago, is brimming with notable landmarks. Situated within the very heart of the city, where the famous Plaza de Armas is located. This neighborhood is a great place to stay when visiting the city and provides many attractions situated within walking distance. There are many museums found in and around the Quinta Normal Park area, including the Chilean Museum of Pre-Columbian Art and cultural sights such as, the grand Cerro San Cristobal.

`Paseos` or pedestrian walkways run throughout the ancient cobblestoned streets lined with shops, cafes, restaurants, and bars. Visitors will find plenty of accommodations in the downtown area, and one of the best bases for exploring the city. There are a wide variety of excellent restaurants here and the iconic Mercado Central Marketplace. The neighborhood is a vibrant residential and commercial hub offering a great nightlife scene in a welcoming atmosphere.

Las Condes

The neighborhood of Las Condes is a very wealthy area, and one of the largest districts in Santiago. There are office buildings and residential areas here, along with new luxurious apartment complexes surrounded by verdant parks. An ultra-modern and exclusive neighborhood, home to two large shopping malls and the most exclusive shopping streets in the city.

The 70 story Gran Torre Costanera tower stands tall in the Las Condes district, one of the most notable buildings on the Santiago skyline. Sleek high rises and posh hotels including the `W` are found in Las Condes, along with over 500 restaurants including offering world class cuisine. Barrio El Golf is found inside Las Condes, the most expensive area in Santiago, nicknamed `Sanhattan`, due to all the commercial high-rises and restaurants, and home to the country`s elite.

Providencia

The popular neighborhood of Providencia is an upscale area in the city, filled with residential homes and plenty of accommodations for visitors. The area is trendy and boasts many chic boutiques, great restaurants and a lively nightlife with bars and clubs. Providencia has the largest hotel network in the entire city and offers a very European feel throughout the historic buildings located in the area. Providencia Avenue is the main shopping and dining strip lined with shops, department stores, and restaurants. Barrio Suecia is a lively nightlife area filled with clubs and pubs, and Barrio Bellavista is a great area for artists and live performers.

Vitacura

Vitacura is one of the most expensive and fashionable neighborhoods in the city of Santiago. This up-scale residential district offers an abundance of elite private schools including Saint George`s College. The area is a mix of sleek modern apartment buildings and beautiful houses, situated a little way out from the city center. The area lacks in public transportation, so having a car while staying in Vitacura is a must as most attractions are an hours commute away.

Visitors can shop at some of the world`s most luxurious boutiques offering high-end labels such as Armani, Swarovski, Hermes and Hugo Boss. Vitacura is also one of the most well-known entertainment districts in the city with numerous bars, pubs, and discos to choose from.

Alonso de Cordova is Santiago`s Fifth Avenue, brimming with world-class shopping and restaurants. Avenida Nueva Costanera is the location of Santiago`s fine dining scene offered along the beautiful broad shaded boulevard where high-end, world-class restaurants reside.
