WHAT TO EXPECT

After pickup at Ayers Rock Resort, travel in a comfortable air-conditioned 4WD Mercedes Benz Sprinter through Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.

Meet your Aboriginal guide at the Cultural Centre in the park, then depart from the national park onto Aboriginal land known as Patji. Explore the desert with your guide on an off-road drive that visits rock waterholes and the site where the original Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park gates once stood. Hear stories of life for the local Anangu (Aboriginal) people before Europeans arrived and up to the present day.

Stop at a custom built shelter for afternoon tea around the campfire and hear about the fight for Aboriginal land rights around Uluru. Learn about the flora and fauna of the region, and how the Uluru family has survived for thousands of years in this extraordinary environment.

In the late afternoon, follow remote bush tracks to a private sand dune with unobstructed views of Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Stop for light snacks and drinks while watching the sky and rock monuments light up with the colors of the sunset.

After sunset, return to the Cultural Centre where you say farewell to your Aboriginal host. Your guide then drives you back to your Ayers Rock hotel to end your tour.

WHAT TO EXPECT

WHAT TO EXPECT

After early morning pickup at Ayers Rock Resort, travel in a climate-controlled minivan with your guide to the entrance of Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park.

As you drive into the park, the massive form of Uluru rises over the sand dunes. Stop at a scenic viewpoint where you eat an outback breakfast while watching the sun rise over this icon of the Red Centre.

Once the sun has risen, head to the Mutitjulu Waterhole, a semi-permanent water hole tucked into the rocks of Uluru. Your guide shares the Aboriginal creation stories of the battle between Liru (poisonous snake) and Kuniya (woma python), and other ancient Dreamtime legends.

You'll also view ancient rock art and learn about the importance of Uluru to the local Aboriginal people.

During the 25-mile (40km) drive through Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park watch the sun begin to rise and color the sky with red, pink, and orange. Admire the desert landscape as you approach the breathtaking domed rock formations of Kata Tjuta.

When you arrive at Kata Tjuta, your guide takes you on a short walk to the best area to watch the sunrise. On arrival to the carpark, the guide will hand out morning tea, to be carried in the travel bag provided. Please advise us of any dietary requirements you any have.

The guide will then lead you along the track. It is a 7.4km difficult level hike. Along the walk the guide will talk about the geology, flora and fauna and how the Anangu used everything around in order to survive. Don't forget to stop every now and then to look up and admire these giant geological formations.

Once the hike is complete your guide will return you to your hotel at Ayers Rock Resort.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Venture through the rugged heart of Australia to the spectacular scenery of Kings Canyon. WHAT TO EXPECT

Your guide will pick you up from your Ayers Rock Resort hotel in the early afternoon. Travel for approx. 45 minutes in an air-conditioned, comfortable 4WD vehicle across the central Australian desert to Mt Conner, located on Curtin Springs station. Look out for Australian wildlife such as red kangaroos, dingoes and wallabies on the way.

Once at Curtin Springs station, your off-road adventure begins! Drive past an inland salt lake and hear from your knowledgeable guide about European settlements and the history of this area. Drive around the back of Mt Conner and see how the landscape changes. After approx. 1.5 hours, youll arrive at the best spot to watch the sun set. WHAT TO EXPECT

After hotel pickup, head to Ayers Rock airport to meet your pilot for your 2-hour tour.

Start with a spin over the northern and western faces of both Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kata Tjuta (The Olgas), then take in an ancient coral reef on the way to Lake Amadeus. Descend for a low level pass over Lake Amadeus to see the patterns on the surface of the lake and the colors on the waters of the 112-mile (180-kilometer) lake.
