WHAT TO EXPECT

After hotel pickup in Broome, have breakfast at the terminal before your departure.

Your pilot provides an introduction to the day and headphones that allow you to hear informative commentary about the region while in flight. When you take off, soar over the sunburned plains and make a quick stop for fuel at Halls Creek.

Proceed to take in the World Heritage-listed Bungle Bungle from the air and ground. When you land, your local guide takes you on a tour of the Beehive Domes, followed by an almost 2-mile (3-km) walk into the natural red rock amphitheater of Cathedral Gorge. Enjoy a delicious picnic lunch in the stunning gorge, before returning to your plane.

On the return flight to Broome, get a look at the Windjana Gorge, another gorgeous natural feature of West Kimberley. Your tour ends after eight hours with drop-off at your hotel.

1: Broome

You will be driven straight to Broome Aviations very own air-conditioned departure lounge located at the Broome International Airport where you will be greeted with breakfast, coffee, tea and fresh juice.

Whilst enjoying breakfast, your specialised pilot will guide you through the comprehensive safety video and give you a short briefing on your flight before you board the aircraft for your full day Bungle Bungle Fly Drive tour.

Departing Broome you head over the township of Broome passing Chinatown, Roebuck Bay and surrounds. The flight path takes you over Malcolm Douglas Crocodile farm and the Broome Road before heading towards the open landscape of the Kimberley.

The flight wings east to the historical town of Halls Creek flying past the millions of hectares of station land rich in Aboriginal Heritage. Your pilot will entertain you with stories and history of the area before reaching the township of Fitzroy Crossing. As you fly over Fitzroy Crossing you will be entertained with information about this small Aboriginal Township. Once past Fitzroy Crossing you then touch down at Halls Creek for a short fuel stop and time to stretch your legs.

2: Halls Creek

Halls Creek is a busy service town for surrounding pastoralists, Aboriginal Communities and travellers exploring the North of Western Australia. Situated in the heart of the Kimberley, Halls Creek is the gateway to a range of world renowned natural attractions, including the World Heritage listed Bungle Bungle ranges of Purnululu National Park. Located on the edge of the Great Sandy and Tanami Desert, three hundred and sixty two kilometres South of Kununurra, one thousand two hundred and eighty eight kilometres South West of Darwin and two thousand eight hundred and seventy three kilometres North East of Perth. Halls Creek offers a genuine insight into the spectacular Australian outback.
After a short break you take back to the skies to explore the rich Aboriginal and European history and culture of the lands below before touching down at the World Heritage Listed Purnululu National Park containing the Bungle Bungle Ranges.

Arriving at the Bungle Bungle you will experience one of the worlds most spectacular natural wonders. Here, you are greeted by Bungle Bungle Guided Tours. You will be in the safe hands of their professional tour guides and transferred to the Bungle Bungles in one of their modern air-conditioned 4WD vehicles. Here you can marvel and experience Piccaninny Gorge and weave a three kilometre path through the sandstone bee-hive domes by foot.
Enjoy a picnic lunch in the magnificent amphitheatre of Cathedral Gorge. Sit back, relax and share tales of your adventure before you are returned to Purnululu National Park airstrip.

4: Broome

Departing from the Bungle Bungle you can view the famous Horseshoe Valley and the Coalition Range from a unique aerial perspective. On the return flight view the King Leopold Range. The King Leopold Ranges extend for three hundred kilometres from Walcott Inlet, in the West to roughly one hundred kilometres from Halls Creek in the East. The ranges consist of long, rugged, spinifex-covered ridges and escarpments. Mount Ord at nine hundred and forty seven metres above sea level and Mount Broome at nine hundred and thirty five metres are the highest peaks in the range.
On arrival into Broome you are welcomed back to Broome Aviations departure lounge where your Pilot will award you with a free souvenir and extra information about the tour before you are transferred back to your hotel.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Get an early start with morning pickup at 5:45am in Broome and transfer to the airport for your 6:30am departure.

Your pilot provides a safety briefing and headphones for the flight, then takes off and soars over the Kimbolton Ranges and Fitzroy River. Learn about the rapid tidal movement that created the conditions for the Horizontal Waterfalls, then admire the Thousand Islands and Buccaneer Archipelago.

Your pilot lands at Cape Leveque where you have breakfast or afternoon tea (depending on the day's timing). Near the stunning red cliffs, have free time to swim in the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, relax on the sandy beach, and snap photos of the scenery.

Next, a short flight brings you to Cygnet Bay, site of Australias oldest family-owned pearl farm. Have a lunch that features barramundi fish, then

take a fast boat tour. The captain steers the boat through giant whirlpools and standing waves in the site of the worlds largest tropical tides.

Swing back to the Cygnet Bay pearl farm for a tour that details the history of pearling, including the process behind cultivating their top quality pearls.

1: Horizontal Falls

Departing Broome, you track over the Chinatown district of Broome, sweeping over Roebuck Bay and surrounds. The flight path takes you over Malcolm Douglas Crocodile farm and the Broome Road before heading towards the Dampier Peninsula.

As you fly past the millions of hectares of station land, rich in Aboriginal Heritage, your pilot will regale you with stories and the history of the area before you enter the area known as the Buccaneer Archipelago. Looming ahead will be the Kimbolton Ranges, an ancient coastal seabed of the region. These ancient relics are the product of a once Devonian reef system. The thousands of islands that form the Buccaneer Archipelago become distinct. You are now over pristine pearl farming waters where only a few pearl farms of the archipelago become visible. Photo opportunities abound here.

The Horizontal Waterfalls soon come into sight as the aircraft is positioned to get the perfect view from the window. This magnificent example of Mother Natures power is closely aligned between the gorges of the McLarty Range, located in Talbot Bay. The Horizontal Falls are a fast moving tidal flow through two narrow fingers, the direction of the flow reverses with each change of tide. As tides in the Kimberley can reach ten metres, a peak tide gives rise to a significant difference in the sea level on either side of each gorge, which creates the rushing water and illusion of the Horizontal Falls.

Flying over Talbot Bay, the home of the famous Paspaley Pearling Empire, you see the hundreds of long lines each housing the valuable oysters that cultivate the pearl. Your Pilot weaves through the islands of Cockatoo and Koolan (mining empires) and heads towards Cape Leveque where the red rock cliffs meet the white sandy beaches bordering the pristine blue waters.

At Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm you are escorted on a tour to take you behind the scenes of one of Australias most secretive industries. You are taken on the sea to view a real-life working pearl farm, offering you the unique opportunity to witness the beauty of this area from the water as well as from the air. Cruise through the Kimberley rock islands in the Sunday Island group on the powerful boat and view the standing waves and whirlpools- *NOTE* If the tides are in neaps the boat will cruise the island group, created by this regions giant tidal movements.

At the end of this incredible boat tour enjoy the opportunity to browse Cygnet Bays stunning loose pearls and exquisite pearl jewellery. You might like to take the opportunity to purchase your own. WHAT TO EXPECT

Get an early start to your day with hotel pickup in Broome and transfer to the airport.

Have breakfast at the terminal before your departure, then board your fixed-wing airplane. From the large viewing windows, take in views of the breathtaking Windjana Gorge. Look for marine life that has been fossilized in the limestone walls of the gorge.

Continue over the King Leopold Ranges, open savannah woodlands, and dry landscapes. Your pilot lands the plane so you can take a short bush walk topped off with a refreshing dip in a natural pool at Bell Gorge.

1: Windjana Gorge

Depart Broome and fly over Chinatown, Roebuck Bay and Malcolm Douglas Crocodile farm before heading towards the open landscape of the Kimberley.
Fly over the King Leopold Ranges which extend for 300km from Walcott Inlet in the west to approx. 100km from Halls Creek in the east. The ranges consist of long, rugged, spinifex-covered ridges and escarpments. Mount Ord at 947m above sea level and Mount Broome at 935m are the highest peaks in the range.
Land at Windjana Gorge Airstrip and take a short drive to the Gorge, where you will see a myriad of natural wildlife including the ever present stares of Windjanas most revered occupant, Johnstons Freshwater Crocodile. The walls of Windjana Gorge rise abruptly from the wide alluvial floodplain of the Lennard River, reaching approx.. 100m high in some places. The 3.5km long gorge cuts through the limestone of the Napier Range, part of an ancient barrier reef which can also be seen at Geikie Gorge and Tunnel Creek National Parks.

2: Bell Gorge

Depart Windjana Gorge for a short flight over the King Leopold Range to the remote Silent Grove Airstrip for another quick drive through the Kimberley outback dotted with many native boab trees, to Bell Gorge. Once at Bell Gorge carpark a short 1km walk will have you arrive at the top of the spectacular waterfall. This walk requires a medium level of fitness but is well worth it to arrive at the top of the waterfall, with a chance to swim, relax and enjoy the many amazing photo opportunities. For the daring, a further 1km walk will allow you to swim in the freshwater pool at the bottom of the waterfall.
Once you are feeling relaxed and refreshed from your swim at Bell Gorge, you then take off for another flight over the King Leopold Ranges into Mt Hart Station.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Start early with hotel pickup in Broome at 7am and transfer to the airport.

Sit down for a tasty breakfast at the airport terminal before your departure on your fixed-wing airplane. Receive a safety briefing from your pilot, and put on the headphones that allow you to hear your pilot in flight.

Take off and soak in views of the Kimberley Plains on your way to Drysdale River Station. When you land at Drysdale River Station, enjoy an authentic experience of the Australian outback.

Return to your plane for a pass over Mitchell Falls, which gives the chance for great photo ops. Continue to check out other sights including King Cascade, Horizontal Waterfalls, the Thousand Islands of the Buccaneer Archipelago, and Australias oldest family-owned pearl farm at Cygnet Bay.

Your pilot gently lands at Cape Leveque where you have lunch, then relax by the beach and red cliffs. Have time for a swim in the Indian Ocean, then nibble an afternoon tea after swimming.

Fly over Pender Bay, Beagle Bay, Carnot Bay, James Price Point, Willie Creek, and Cable Beach on the return journey to Broome, where your tour ends with hotel drop-off.

1: King Leopold Ranges Conservation Park

Departing Broome, you head over the township of Broome passing over Chinatown, Roebuck Bay and surrounds. The flight path takes you over Malcolm Douglas Crocodile farm and the Broome Road, flying over the inspiring remote Kimberley plains before landing at Mount Hart station enjoy a deliciously prepared morning tea while taking in the scenery of the historic outback station. Departing Mt Hart station you will see some of the most remote Kimberley wilderness such as the King Leopold Ranges. The King Leopold Ranges extend for three hundred kilometres from Walcott Inlet, in the West to roughly one hundred kilometres from Halls Creek in the East. The ranges consist of long, rugged, spinifex-covered ridges and escarpments. Mount Ord at nine hundred and forty seven metres above sea level and Mount Broome at nine hundred and thirty five metres are the highest peaks in the range.

Mitchell Plateau (Pass by)

The Mitchell Falls come into view, a spectacular series of four waterfalls which run at varying intensity all year round. Here is a fantastic photo opportunity to wonder at these amazing falls. Your journey continues to the Prince Regent River to view the impressive King Cascade Falls. These are at an elevation of approximately fifty metres above sea level. During the next few hours the aircraft passes over Montgomery Islands, one of the wonders of the Kimberley coast, Montgomery Reef is a spectacle to behold as the entire reef appears to rise from the ocean on a falling tide. With tidal differences of over ten metres over a single spring tide cycle, nearly five metres of reef gradually emerges from the ocean, as water cascades down numerous channels. Montgomery Reef and The Montgomery Islands lie twenty kms off the central Kimberley coast

Horizontal Falls (Pass by)

The Horizontal Waterfalls soon come into sight as the aircraft is positioned, to get the perfect view from the window. This magnificent example of Mother Natures power is closely aligned between the gorges of the McLarty Range, located in Talbot Bay. The Horizontal Falls are a fast-moving tidal flow through two narrow fingers, the direction of the flow reverses with each change of tide. As tides in the Kimberley can reach ten metres, a peak tide gives rise to a significant difference in the sea level on either side of each gorge, which creates the rushing water of the Horizontal Falls.Flying over Talbot Bay, the home of the famous Paspaley Pearling Empire, you can see hundreds of long lines each housing the valuable creatures that cultivate the pearl. Your Pilot weaves the aircraft through the islands of Cockatoo and Koolan (mining empires) and heads to Cape Leveque where the red rock cliffs meet the white sandy beaches to the pristine blue waters.

2: Cygnet Bay

Visit the family owned Pearl Farm at the tip of the beautiful Dampier Peninsula, one of the last pristine and remote marine wilderness frontiers in the world. You will be showcased the epic story of the Australian Pearl from its Indigenous beginnings through to the four generations of the Brown family who have been pearling and living here since 1946.

All guests will experience a Pearl Farm Tour and delicious gourmet lunch.

Visitors have the choice to disembark here and spend free time in Chinatown and make their own way back to their accommodation via Broome's Explorer Bus for a very small charge of under $5.
