WHAT TO EXPECT

Join us for a certified dive at Julian Rocks Marine Reserve within the Cape Byron Marine Park.
Meet us at our purpose built dive centre in the heart of Byron Bay, where you will complete pre-tour paperwork, be fitted for your dive equipment (if required), briefed by one of our skippers and transported to our launch site. It is then only a short 5-10 minute boat ride to Julian Rocks, keep an eye out for dolphins and whales (when in season).

Your dive will be guided by one of our friendly dive guides, who will point out all the amazing marine life to you, such as turtles, wobbegong sharks, rays and many different species of fish. After your dive we will bring you back to the dive centre, where there are hot showers and the crew will help you fill out your log book and identify the marine life you saw. Storage lockers are available for your valuables and bags for the duration of the tour.

It is possible to see platypus at any time of the day, but our best chance is just after dawn.

We pick you up from your Byron Bay accommodation and drive to the special platypus area. From there we start our 90-minute easy walk along the creek looking for platypus.

Your guide will lead you at a gentle pace, showing you what to look for and sharing insights about this much-loved and quirky Australian animal.

We usually see one or two platypus, loads of birds and sometimes even koalas. After watching the platypus have their breakfast we relax with ours a picnic by the creek before returning to Byron Bay.

After making your own way to our starting point near Brunswick Heads Our 2 hr tour starts with a lesson; firstly on land (as most customers are new to SUP) before we head off on our relaxing adventure down the beautiful Brunswick River in the Cape Byron Marine Park.

Groups are small (max 8) to be able to really soak in the peacefulness. You'll feel far away from the hustle & bustle immersed in nature. We'll share information about what we see & point out wildlife along the way.

After a brief stop for some water (supplied), we head off again down the tunnel of trees where mother nature does all the talking.

On our return, there'll be refreshing cold water & homemade snacks. Here, most of our customers are surprised they're still dry & comment "It was easier than I expected!" Later, well send you a link to your free photos.

The surf lessons are of the highest quality. Your safety and fun are the number one priority. There is always 1 instructor to every 7 students, so every participant gets plenty of help and attention. You will be provided with the personal attention you need to stand up and start surfing the waves in no time. Blackdog Surf School is an ASI approved surf school. The school meets and exceeds stringent safety and quality standards. All the coaches are qualified lifeguards with many years of coaching experience. They all hold a Level 1 Surfing Coach Accreditation, Bronze Medallion and Senior 1st Aid Certificates.

We have been operating surf lessons on the beautiful beaches of Byron Bay since 2001. Their aim is to give you the amazing feeling of riding your very first wave. Our coaches check surfing conditions of the beaches before every lesson. They will bring you to the beach with the best conditions for your particular level. Our lessons are specifically designed to teach you to surf at your own pace in a relaxed environment to build further self-confidence so you can continue in the sport of surfing and feel confident in the water.

WHAT TO EXPECT

With relatively calm, protected waters and an abundance of marine life, Cape Byron Marine Park is an ideal sea kayaking spot. Choose from a morning or afternoon departure. Youll be outfitted with a paddle, safety vest and a two-person sea kayak designed for ease and stability. All levels of kayaking experience are welcome.

Follow your knowledgeable surf-and-sea guides out into the marine park, learning about the areas natural and cultural history as you paddle. Your guides will navigate the group toward the path of a local pod of more than 300 dolphins that are regularly seen swimming, splashing and jumping in the area. Get an amazingly up-close encounter with these smart and playful creatures in their natural habitat.

Marvel at the 20-tonne Enchanted Cave, filled with millions of sparkling amethyst crystals, and explore 5 hectares of subtropical botanical gardens, including a regenerated rainforest with 10,000 native trees.
Walk the Crystal Labyrinth, inspired by the 800-year-old Chartres Cathedral, and touch the Kalachakra World Peace Stupa, personally blessed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
