WHAT TO EXPECT

After hotel pickup in Cairns or the Northern Beaches (if option selected), transfer to the river where your guide welcomes you. Otherwise, make your own way.

Receive a safety briefing and get outfitted with the provided gear, including life jackets, helmets and paddles. Then learn paddling basics, before hopping in your raft for a thrilling ride through Barron Gorge National Park.

Expect to get wet when you go through rapids with colorful names such as Rooster Tail and Cheese Churn. This section of the Barron River is rated as grade three, which means that the waves can measure approximately 36 feet (12 meters) and passengers need to hold on at times in rapids. Bring sturdy shoes that can get wet, swimsuit and towel, plus dry clothes to change into after your trip.

After your rafting trip, your tour ends with hotel drop-off (if option selected).

WHAT TO EXPECT

Known as the village in the rain forest, Kuranda is an excellent base to explore the culture, scenery and wildlife of Tropical North Queensland. Departing from Palm Cove, enjoy a 1.5-hour train ride aboard the historic Kuranda Scenic Railway, crossing Stoney Creek Bridge and the waterfalls of Barron Gorge along the way.

At booking, choose from five different itineraries to suit your style and budget. Enjoy free time to explore the heritage markets of Kuranda, or join in a variety guided activities. Learn about aboriginal history and customs at the Tjupakai Aboriginal Cultural Park, where youll be treated to traditional dance and music. Choose the lunch option to enjoy a delicious buffet meal midday.

Take a walk on the wild side with an amphibious duck tour at Rainforestation Nature Park, and have up-close animal encounters with butterflies, exotic birds, kangaroos and even cuddly koalas (additional fees may apply).

At the end of your time in Kuranda, return to Palm Cove aboard a gondola on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. Glide above the rain forest canopy and soak up spectacular views of the tropical landscape and coastline on the 4.5-mile (7.5-km) ride.

1: Quicksilver Pontoon

Departing from Port Douglas, your 90-minute high speed catamaran cruise takes you directly to Agincourt Reef, located on the Outer Great Barrier Reef The permanent pontoon moored here provides a sheltered base for your day on the reef. During the trip a snorkeling demonstration will get you ready for your adventure, and the staff will take you through your options for the day.

2: Agincourt Reef

The clear water of the provides great underwater visibility and encourages rich coral growth which supports a wide variety of fish life, both large and small. Schools of damsel fish, solitary clown fish and small reef sharks are common visitors to this part of the reef, along with some brightly-colored parrotfish and elegant angel fish.

You'll have around 3.5 hours to enjoy the reef at your leisure. Grab a snorkel and fins and hit the water on your own, or join an optional guided snorkeling tour with a qualified marine biologist. Snorkeling is a great way to explore the Great Barrier Reef, and there are friendly staff on hand to show you how.

Prefer to stay dry? You can explore the stunning reef from the comfort of a semi-submersible submarine. You'll take a leisurely cruise through colorful coral gardens, giving you a snorkeler's view of the marine life without getting wet. Included Activities:Sorkeling at Agincourt Reef, Semi Submersible coral viewing: The semi submersibles cruise slowly through the colorful coral gardens giving passengers, the opportunity to experience a snorkelers-eye view of the marine life without getting wet.
Underwater Observatory: Watch the fish feeding from the unique viewing platform and underwater observatory. From here, you can also see the "first time" divers taking part in introductory dives.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Ringed by sandy beaches and 55 acres of shallow reef, the beautiful coral cay of Low Isles makes an ideal spot to explore the world-famous Great Barrier Reef. Your full-day adventure at sea begins with pickup at your Palm Cove hotel and a short drive to Port Douglas. Here, board a comfortable 98-foot (30-meter) sailing catamaran spacious enough to accommodate up to 200 passengers. On the 9-mile (15-km) voyage to Low Isles, admire the scenery from the sun deck or sip a cocktail inside the comfortable air-conditioned lounge (own expense).

When you arrive at Low Isles, a sea shuttle will deliver you to the white sandy beaches, where the day is yours to spend as you choose. Jump into the cool, clear waters straight from the beach and snorkel among the surrounding reef independently, or join a snorkeling tour led by a marine biologist. Get an underwater perspective on native marine life including fantastic coral formations, giant sea clams, tropical fish and green sea turtles.

You can also explore the reef without getting wet on a glass-bottom boat tour, or simply soak up the sun on pristine sandy beaches. Learn more about the formation of Low Isles and local flora and fauna with a guided nature walk. In between adventures, recharge with a delicious buffet lunch and enjoy complimentary morning and afternoon tea.

After several hours at Low Isles, relax on the return catamaran cruise to Port Douglas. You will then be transferred back to your Palm Cove hotel, where your full-day tour concludes in the evening.

1: Wavedancer Low Isles Cruise

Situated nine miles (15 kilometers) north-east of Port Douglas, Low Isles is a coral cay surrounded by 55 acres of reef in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. The sandy beach and clear, calm lagoon waters are ideal for swimming and snorkeling. Low Isles is well-known for its population of green turtles, keep an eye on the surface as they regularly pop up for air. Occasionally dugongs can be seen grazing on sea grass and large rays may glide by.

During the cruise, a Marine Biologist will conduct an informative talk on the fish and corals and provide details on the activities available throughout the day. The 30-meter luxury sailing catamaran offers the excitement of big ship sailing combined with the ultimate in comfort. Relax in the luxurious air-conditioned lounge with fully licensed bar, or soak up the sun under the sails on the expansive deck.

On arrival a shuttle will take you from the boat to the island, or you can dive straight in and swim to the beach!

Join an organized snorkel tour led by a marine biologist, or take to the water independently and explore at your leisure. Snorkeling equipment is provided and the friendly crew are on hand to assist.You don't have to get wet to enjoy a day at Low Isles. You can join a glass bottom boat tour over the soft coral gardens that surround Low Isles. Your guide will point out giant clams, a variety of fish and corals, and of course be on the lookout for turtles. On land you may like to join a guided beach walk around the small island. Learn about the flora and fauna of the island along with the history of Low Isles as an important place of marine research.
