WHAT TO EXPECT

After morning pickup from your Port Douglas accommodation, travel by air-conditioned minivan through the World Heritage-listed rainforest to reach the village of Kuranda.

Upon arrival, your local guide provides a guided tour of the rainforest village that highlights its artisans and craft markets. Explore on your own as well and have the option to visit the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary, Bird World, and Koala Gardens (discount vouchers available), or one of the village cafes.

To participate in the activity of snorkelling, you must be confident in the water with the capacity to swim unassisted. If you are a poor swimmer, you may not be suitable to snorkel in the open water. Not all passengers will be suitable to snorkel, and our experienced crew have the discretion to advise against snorkelling if deemed not suitable for the activity. This is for the safety of the passenger. Please be advised snorkelling can be a strenuous physical activity, even in calm water and that older people are at an increased risk of death and/or injury due to a higher incidence of medical conditions made worse by physical exertion, such as heart disease and stroke. All passengers intending to snorkel will be asked to complete our Medical Declaration for Snorkelling form. Our experienced crew will discuss any issues relating to medical conditions and swimming ability. Sailaway reserves the right to decline any passenger from participating in snorkelling if we are concerned about your health condition and/or swimming ability. This is for your own safety, please listen to the advice of our experienced snorkel guides to ensure the safety of our guests.

Our Sailaway vessels are luxury sailing catamarans and we offer a pure sailing experience. This means the vessels travel in open seas and will move around whilst under sail. The decks of the vessels are multi levels and can be slippery when wet. Passengers must have good mobility to safely move around the vessels, step onto the glass bottom boats (if applicable) and get in and out of the water via the ladders on the back of the vessels. Unfortunately, we do not offer wheelchair access due to the layout of the decks and saloon areas. Our tours are adventure experiences for active travellers. This park protects the endangered Mabi forest, characterised by semi-deciduous canopy trees allowing ample light to reach the forest floor. Notably, it houses a unique fig tree with extensive aerial roots forming a striking "curtain" effect. Originating from a seed dropped high in the canopy, the strangler fig gradually strangled its host tree, leaving a freestanding fig tree estimated to be over 500 years old, nearly 50 meters tall, with a trunk circumference of 39 meters.

During our private wildlife tours, we include a stop at Granite Gorge Nature Park, where you'll have the opportunity to observe the Mareeba rock-wallaby (Petrogale mareeba). This rare species of rock-wallaby is native to the Mareeba area and was officially recognized as a separate species in 1992. It's a chance to witness firsthand the unique biodiversity of the region.

WHAT TO EXPECT

When your boat departs, your guide provides a safety briefing and introduction to the day's activities, and scuba divers are briefed about the dive sites.

Custom built snorkel-only vessels allow access to renowned sites throughout the Barrier Reef. If you want to go diving, introductory divers are placed in small groups with a PADI Dive Instructor. Certified divers dive in small groups accompanied by PADI Dive Masters. Scuba diving is for an additional charge.

Arrive at your first dive site at either Opal or Agincourt Reef. Have time to snorkel and enjoy morning tea before moving on to the second site before noon. Guided snorkel tours are optional at the second site. Have lunch on board the boat, then listen to an interpretive talk about the Great Barrier Reef.

Move to the third site of the day and take the optional guided snorkel tour, then nibble your afternoon tea afterwards. Finally, depart for the mainland.

Experience the outer Great Barrier Reef by immersing yourself amongst the coral and marine life with snorkelling or introductory / certified scuba diving.

We provide pick-up directly from your Port Douglas accommodation. Alternatively, you can meet us at Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas or Club Mossman.

Pick-ups begin in the Port Douglas CBD from 7:25am. Please be ready outside your accommodation by this time. Depending on our schedule, we may arrive a few minutes later at your location.

1: Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre

We will start at Mossman Gorge National Park, which is the southern part of the Daintree Rainforest. Your guide will share their knowledge of the local flora and fauna with you and answer any questions you may have. This is an easy 500m return walk mostly along boardwalks.

We enjoy a delicious Morning Tea at the Mossman Gorge Visitors Centre. Your choice of plunger coffee or Daintree Tea with a traditional damper served with jam, honey and cream.

Next we head along the Captain Cook Hwy through the township of Mossman and past the cane fields up to the Daintree Rainforest.

Finish your day aboard a small comfortable vessel catering for just 10 passengers. From the Daintree Village boat ramp and jetty you will be welcomed aboard by the professional guide for a 2 hour guided sunset cruise taking you along the mighty Daintree river and its adjoining tributaries, to where the big boats don't go. You will explore the rivers unique ecology from its freshwater origins to the saline mangroves gliding along the river in the late afternoons rays. The cruise provides excellent wildlife viewing and photographic opportunities getting up close to the iconic wildlife. WHAT TO EXPECT

Begin the day with morning pickup from your Port Douglas accommodation.

Ride in your air-conditioned minivan to Freshwater Station to take the historic Kuranda Scenic Railway (if option selected), which winds through the World Heritage-listed rainforest, passing towering waterfalls and the Barron Gorge. Upon arrival in Kuranda, your guide shows you around rainforest village, which is known for a range of arts and craft markets.

After your time in Kuranda, hop aboard the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway (if option selected), a gondola that glides over the rainforest canopy. Next, drive to the tree-lined esplanade in Palm Cove where you can purchase refreshments (own expense) and take in the beach, shops, and galleries.

Return to Port Douglas in the late afternoon where your tour ends with hotel drop-off.

We pick up from all hotels in Port Douglas and Palm Cove, we travel to Skyrail Rainforest Cableway for an amazing Multi award winning experience over World Heritage Rainforest. Our driver guide meets you in the Kuranda village where you have free time to enjoy the markets, galleries, Butterfly Sanctuary, Koala gardens and have lunch at one of the many eateries. You then return in the bus or you can upgrade to add the Kuranda Scenic Train. We then stop at Palm Cove for half an hour where you can have a cocktail or drink (at own expense) over looking the beautiful beach, we then return back to your hotel in Port Douglas.

WHAT TO EXPECT

After cruising from the mainland, arrive at Low Isles, where you can spend four and a half hours at Low Isles, a coral cay island where you can relax under palm trees on the white sands and snorkel off-beach in the sheltered lagoons undersea coral gardens.

Take a walk to Low Isles historic lighthouse, dating from 1878, or learn about the Great Barrier Reefs magical underwater world of iridescent fish and fluorescent coral on a guided snorkel tour led by a marine biologist. Theres more fun eco-education aboard a glass-bottom boat tour, with stunning coral views and expert commentary.

After a seafood buffet lunch on board the catamaran, soak up the sun on the deck or return to the water for a final snorkel before returning to Port Douglas by 4pm.

If you are a poor swimmer, you may not be suitable to snorkel in the open water. Not all passengers will be suitable to snorkel, and our experienced crew have the discretion to advise against snorkelling if deemed not suitable for the activity. This is for the safety of the passenger. Please be advised snorkelling can be a strenuous physical activity, even in calm water and that older people are at an increased risk of death and/or injury due to a higher incidence of medical conditions made worse by physical exertion, such as heart disease and stroke. All passengers intending to snorkel will be asked to complete our Medical Declaration for Snorkelling form. Our experienced crew will discuss any issues relating to medical conditions and swimming ability. Our Sailaway vessels are luxury sailing catamarans and we offer a pure sailing experience. This means the vessels travel in open seas and will move around whilst under sail. The decks of the vessels are multi levels and can be slippery when wet. Passengers must have good mobility to safely move around the vessels, step onto the glass bottom boats (if applicable) and get in and out of the water via the ladders on the back of the vessels. Unfortunately, we do not offer wheelchair access due to the layout of the decks and saloon areas. Our tours are adventure experiences for active travellers. Our trail consists of spectacular beach, ocean and World Heritage Mountain views.

We will be gliding along the contours of the beach. Following the ocean waves and

sandy straights as we head towards the headland at the southern end of Four Mile

Beach, taking in the gorgeous views as we have a break.

On your tour we will be exploring small rainforest trails, the sandy flats at low tide,

creeks & crossings, and if theres time we will glide through the local precinct with

possible encounters of our wildlife.

40 minute speed boat ride to get to our Outer Reef Snorkelling area.
1.5 hours of snorkelling off the back of the boat viewing beautiful coral gardens surrounded by marine life and tropical fish.
40 minute speed boat ride back to return to Port Douglas.
This tour is number dependent and also requires a suitable wind forecast for us to operate. In the case of not being able to operate this option, we would offer you a Low Isles alternative.

OVERVIEW

Your adventure begins at 8:00 AM with a hotel pick-up. With only 20 guests, enjoy a personal and informative tour as we head to Hartleys Crocodile Adventures, arriving by 8:50 AM. Take a boat cruise on Hartleys Lagoon to witness thrilling crocodile feeding, followed by free time to explore the park's wildlife, including koalas, kangaroos, and more.

At 11:35 AM, your guide will pick you up for a journey on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, where you'll enjoy breathtaking views and 2 stops to get off and explore the rainforest. We will meet you at the terminal and transfer you up to the Kuranda village, explore its vibrant markets, galleries, shops and cafes, or opt for the wildlife experiences.

At 3:30 PM, board the Kuranda Scenic Railway for a scenic trip through the rainforest, past waterfalls and through tunnels. End your day with a sunset stroll along Palm Coves beach, enjoying a drink before returning to Port Douglas at dusk.

Spend the rest of your time exploring the park and see friendly Kangaroos, Koalas, Wombats, Monkeys, Snakes and more with a complimentary morning tea.
At 11.35 am the tour will pick you up to take you to Skyrail and you will arrive at midday.

At midday embark on a fascinating journey of discovery with Skyrail Rainforest Cableway over and deep into Australias Wet Tropics World Heritage Area that has survived against all odds to become the home of the worlds oldest rainforest story.
Enjoy a truly unique perspective of this ancient landscape; glide metres above the pristine jungle canopy before descending to explore the rainforest close up.

Wander the shops, markets, galleries, enjoy a bite to eat in one of the many cafes and great restaurants. (at your own expense)

5: Kuranda Scenic Railway

board the historic Kuranda Scenic Train, one of the most spectacular rail journeys in Australia travel through the rainforest enjoying breathtaking scenery, waterfalls and tunnels.
The tour guide will be waiting on the platform at Freshwater station to take you to Palm Cove which is only 30 minutes away.

6: Palm Cove

Stop at stunning Palm Cove.
I will show you along the palm fringed Esplanade before joining you for a sunset cocktail/wine/beer/soft drink (at own expense) overlooking the picturesque beach.

7: Port Douglas

At 6.30 pm we arrive back in Port Douglas where we begin our hotel drop offs, for those that wish to be dropped in Port Douglas centre for dinner just mention this to your guide.
All additional time on the tour is allotted to transfers and travel in the bus.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Immerse yourself in the ancient, World Heritage-listed rain forest of Tropical North Queensland. Your full-day adventure begins with pickup at your Port Douglas hotel and a ride on the historic Kuranda Scenic Railway. During the 1.5-hour journey, wind around mountainous curves and stop briefly at beautiful Barron Gorge for photos.

When you arrive at the station in Kuranda, enjoy several hours of leisure time to spend as you choose. Browse heritage markets and enjoy lunch at a local café (own expense), or select from a variety of optional activities. Join in an indigenous celebration at the Tjupakai Aboriginal Cultural Park, take an amphibious duck tour at the Rainforestation Nature Park or enjoy an up-close observation of some of Australias amazing animals at Birdworld and the Kuranda Koala Gardens. To return to Port Douglas, glide above the lush canopy on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. From inside a 6-passenger gondola, get a unique perspective of the forest and enjoy views that stretch far out into the Coral Sea. Stop at two different lookouts to capture photos and chat with forest rangers.

Your full-day rainforest adventure concludes with drop-off back at your Port Douglas hotel in the early evening.
