Youll take a break at two of the coasts best snorkeling spots, allowing you to slip beneath the waves to explore colorful coral, more than 50 species of fish and, if youre lucky, a variety of marine critters like Manta Rays, Hawksbill and Green Turtles, and Humpback whales (seasonal).
If you havent had your fill of adventure and activity, there will also be time for on-land exploring as well. Depending on the day and timing you may also get to check out local features like ocean blowholes, lava tubes, and local attractions like The Elevator and The Rings. Start your day with a morning adventure! We kayak along the coast as we head to the sea caves. Hawaiian spinner dolphins (Naia) are most commonly seen in the early morning, so look out for these amazing creatures.
We stop for snorkeling at one of our favorite spots that are rich with coral and over 50 kinds of colorful fish. Other critters that we sometimes encounter are manta rays, hawksbill and green turtles, and humpback whales. Conditions permitting, this tour offers sea caves, blowholes, The Elevator, The Rings, and more.
We specialize in taking very small groups (4 to 8 people avg) to ensure a safe, full, and unhurried experience. Space is very limited, so please book early. No experience necessary. As you pass through the ranching town of Waimea, watch as the landscape changes from pastures to green, tropical rainforest, as sweeping views of the Hamakua Coast start creeping into view. During a stop at Waipio Valley lookout, marvel at the way the vertical cliffs seem to explode from the green valley floor and hear the tales of how King Kamehameha was raised in this valley as a child. The adventure continues as you wind your way down the Hamakua Coast, past roadside towns with singsong names until you reach Akaka Falls and Rainbow Falls.
Make your way back toward sea level at Punaluu Beach, where youll take a stroll on a black-sand beach and search for Hawaiian green sea turtles. Head next to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, before rounding the southern tip of the island, the southernmost point in America. Your Captain will provide a safety briefing as you get underway. The crew will brief you on the marine life you're going to see, and outfit you with snorkel gear. Upon arrival to the site, your crew will help you into the water and even provide a personalized tour of the reef (though you're free to explore with your buddy). When you're done playing in the water, return to the boat and enjoy beers, wines and soft drinks, as well as i picnic sandwiches and snacks. Cruises departing on our catamaran Seasmoke also include real near-coastal sailing on your return to the bay.
