Come see the fantastically illuminated ice sculptures!
The ice sculptures are made from the crystal clear waters of Lake Shikotsu, and the colorfully lit ice art creates a fantastical and mystical landscape. Of course, it's also perfect for taking great photos on social media.

A variety of large and small ice sculptures, made by freezing Lake Shikotsu's water with sprinklers, line the grounds. At night, they are illuminated with colorful lights, creating a magical world. The main ice sculpture is a masterpiece that took a team of about 10 people more than two months to create, and its impressive beauty is truly remarkable when viewed up close.

This tour is easy to travel on, as you'll ride a round-trip reserved-seat bus. Admission to the Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival is also included.

Washoku was added to the UNESCO Heritage list.
You can learn about Washoku from Yuki who is an experienced decorative sushi roll instructor. She has appeared on TV many times because she is popular.
In 2024, Portland, Oregon, USA and Sapporo Hokkaido celebrated the 65th anniversary of their sister city partnership. The welcoming celebration was held at a hotel in Sapporo, where she demonstrated and served Decorative sushi rolls to the mayors of both cities.

We welcome international guests to our Sushi Roll Preparation School in Sapporo. At our hands-on workshop you will learn how to cook decorative sushi rolls.

Satomi and Yui learned this artistic sushi rolling technique from Yuki.
We are all professional sushi rolling instructors.
Prices vary depending on the teacher. You're lucky if there's a discount!

If you book Yuki's class, you can get free pick-up service outside Makomanai subway station to and from her workshop. Please let us know at the time of booking if you require.

If you book Satomi's class at the cafe, please take a street car to come there. The nearest station is "Nishisen 9jyo asahiyama koendori". Satomi would pick you up this station if you require. The cafe's name is "Piano Piano cafe & studio".

If you book Yui's class and SNACK experience, come to the convenient Susukino area. They are held in "New Bimatu building", a 3-minutes walk from Susukino subway station.

We'll walk around downtown of Sapporo area and along the Sosei River. After we explore local area of Sapporo, we'll go to an IZAKAYA and enjoy the local food and drinks(Sapporo Beer) there aren't in any guidebooks. Walk along the side of the "Sousei River" and you'll feel that this smaller river offers a comforting view. After our stroll, we will pass the Nijo fish Market, a historic fish market established over 100 years ago.

Sapporo Nijo fish market is a public market in central Sapporo that occupies about one city block. Both locals and tourists visit the market to shop for fresh local produce and seafood such as crabs, salmon eggs, sea urchin and various fresh and prepared fish.

The market is open from around 7:00 to around 18:00 on all days of the week, with individual shops maintaining their own opening hours and closing days. Several restaurants can be found among the shops, including a collection of small drinking places and restaurants.

Sapporo TV Tower is a TV and radio broadcasting tower with an observation deck which is located in Sapporos Odori Park. The tower was built in 1957 and is 147 meters high. Sapporo TV Tower was designed by the architect Tachu Naito who also designed a number of other famous towers in Japan, including Tokyo Tower, Nagoya TV Tower, and the Tsutenkaku tower in Osaka. 4: Odori Park

Odori Park is an oasis in the city center and extends 1.5 km from east to west. The history of Odori Park began in 1871 when it was constructed as a large-scale firebreak to separate the downtown area to the administrative district in the north and the residential and commercial district in the south.

With its development promoted by the growth of the city, the park was later turned into a relaxing space for the citizens as well as a place for international exchange.

Odori Park is recognized both regionally and nationally as a site for major events in Sapporo such as the YOSAKOI Soran festival in early summer, the Beer Garden and the Summer Festival in summer, and the Snow Festival and the White Illumination in winter.

5: Tanukikoji Shopping Street

Tracing its history back to 1869, Tanuki Koji is the oldest shopping district in Hokkaido. The origins of this famous shopping arcade developed organically when stores and restaurants began to spontaneously gather on the spot. Over time, the arcade architecture was constructed to shield shoppers from the elements. Nowadays, the district is almost a kilometer long and boasts over 200 shops lining both sides of the covered shopping area! There is sure to be something for everyone here with restaurants, bars, used clothing shops, souvenir stores, curios, and more. What to Expect

We will leave Sapporo Station at 1pm, and travel to Lake Shikotsu by charter bus.

Here well spend the afternoon at the ice festival there, enjoying the frozen sculptures, buildings and activities. As well as an ice slide and an ice rink, there are also many food stalls, view spots of the lake, and a large information centre about the area that we recommend checking out.

Later in the afternoon, well meet together for a light dinner, or coffee and snack, and there would be time here to visit the local hot spring if you wanted to add this to your day.

In the evening, well revisit the ice festival for the illuminations, and on the weekend, the fireworks activity.

Soranuma-dake, standing at 1,251 meters, is a day hike near Sapporo, offering panoramic views and a chance to escape into nature. The trailhead begins at a quarry and leads through lush forests to two rustic huts by a serene pond, perfect for a rest. The ascent, taking approximately four hours, rewards hikers with stunning vistas of Sapporo city, Lake Shikotsu, and the surrounding mountains. With a total distance of 17.5 kilometers and a moderate difficulty rating, this hike is best enjoyed from May to late November, when the trail has less snow.
A more challenging day hike is to Jozankei Tengu dake. This ancient volcano, standing at 1145 meters, has been sculpted into a series of rugged summits, surrounded by cliffs, offering hikers a challenging experience. The ascent begins with a walk beside a river, followed by a steep climb aided by ropes, leading to a narrow ridge with breathtaking views as. The best time to visit is from May to late November, when the trail is most accessible.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Hokkaidos green season (early April to early November) invites exploration. Enjoy the uncrowded routes, unforgettable sights of ocean views, and mountain landscapes. The area boasts lush summer greens and transitions into brilliant fall colors.
Keep an eye out for the native flora and fauna that is abundant in the Hokkaido backcountry.
Choose from a variety of routes such as these examples-
Toyomi Yama (), Kabuto Iwa (), Sapporo Dake Short Course (), Hakkenzan (), Yaki Yama (), and Zenibako Tengu-dake () to name just a few.
After completion of the hike, finish off the included option of a leasurely visit to an onsen to relax and enjoy the healing properties of the volcanic hot springs.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Channel your inner cowboy on a 2.5- or 3-hour horseback-riding trip through the scenic mountain countryside near Sapporo. Best of all youll get to experience the glory days of the American West as you start your ride in a simulated Western town, complete with stables and Old West-style wooden buildings.

Begin your horseback riding adventure with a pickup in the early morning in Sapporo by taxi, taking a 40-minute drive to the ride starting point to arrive in the morning. Start your excursion at Mustang Town, a simulated Old West village complete with all the typical structures of a Hollywood-style cowboy town.

Meet your instructor-guide for the day, also known as the Sheriff, who will take you through a brief safety lesson, including tips for mounting your horse, holding the reins and tips for turning and stopping. Those with previous horse riding experience can request advanced tips from the instructor.

Then head out for your Wild West patrol through the beautiful mountain trails nearby. Depending on the option youve selected, youll enjoy a 40-minute or 1-hour ride. Pass through picturesque fruit orchards and lush green hillsides along the way. Youll also be able to spot the areas unique 8-peak mountain visible in the distance.

Finish your horseback trip with a return by taxi to your hotel in Sapporo.

What to Expect

Visiting two ice villages in one day makes for a full and jam-packed schedule, but this is a winter-wonderland adventure that we fully recommend making the most of. These ice villages only exist in the winter season.

Please enjoy a drink in the Ice Bar in Lake Shikaribetsu. You can also feel the freezing wind coming towards your face by driving the snowmobiles. If you think that it is not exciting enough, the outdoor Ice Hot Spring in Lake Shikaribetsu is a must to try! Please dont worry, so far we havent heard of someone frozen to death in the Ice Hot Spring! (Remember to bring your own towel)

Then we will go the Tomamu Ice Village to enjoy the elegant and fantastic scenery. You will be satisfied by both indoor and outdoor activities there. You can enjoy some greatrefreshments in the Ice Books & Café. For example, there are ice desserts and latte in ice glasses. It will be a funny experience to have Ice Meal inside while outside is about -20°C. And because of the extremely cold weather, please prepare yourselves enough warm clothing!

Start your mountain bike adventure with a morning pickup in Sapporo, continuing about an hour to the start of your ride. Before you head out, get fitted with a bike, helmet and gloves, and listen to a brief safety overview of your ride.

Then start off on a 1.5-hour mountain-biking trip along a peaceful path tracing the Toyohira River, its waters swollen with runoff from the melting snow of the Jozankei Valley. Along the way youll cross a picturesque suspension bridge and enjoy sublime views of the river canyon below. Your ride finishes with a steep downhill into Jozankei, a town of traditional onsen hot spring baths first discovered by a local monk in 1866. Youll be able to see the steam rising from these naturally heated baths as you wander the town.

Stop for a quick bite of onsen manju, a snack made of a bun filled with azuki-bean paste, before continuing on a steep ride back uphill towards the Shirai River. Bike back over the Toyohira, where you can dip your feet in the cool waters, before heading to the nearby Hoheikyo Onsen for your soak.

The 6-mile (10km) ride finishes at this heated spring, ranked in 2013 by TripAdvisor users as one of the areas top hot spring day trips. WHAT TO EXPECT
Start your mountain bike ride in the morning, approximately one hour after youre picked up by air-conditioned minivan from Sapporo.

Upon arrival at the Nopporo Forest Park, youre fitted with a mountain bike, helmet and gloves. Once you receive safety precautions and instructions on basic mountain biking skills, follow your guide along a mostly dirt road on a loop trail through pristine flatland forest.

Cycle past old-growth trees, where you may spot deer, squirrels, Japanese hares, Hokkaido salamanders, and native foxes, among other critters, that inhabit the wildlife sanctuary. Napporo Forest Park is home to 140 species of birds, including kingfisher and kumagera (black woodpecker), the worlds largest woodpecker with enough beak power to be heard throughout a forest.

3: Miyanomori Ski Jump Stadium

After lunch, by subway and bus we will visit Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium. Okurayama is well known as the ski jump venue during the 1972 Olympic Winter Games in Sapporo, but even now many international ski jumping competitions are held. Ride the lift to the 307m summit and admire the city of Sapporo and the Ishikari Plain spreading out before you. During winter, you can enjoy a particularly superb view, with the pure white snow dazzling the scene around you. Beneath the 307m summits observatory is the starting line for the ski jump. Here you can realistically experience the jumpers feeling before they make their run. After enjoying the ski jump stadium, the tour will end with a return to your accommodations.
