Learn about the rules, techniques and history of sumo, practice sumo exercises, get in the ring to challenge a former sumo wrestler! There will be lots of photo opportunities! Tobu Nikko Station (Pass by)

Meet up with participants from Nikko and then, take the route bus to the bus stop near Kanmangafuchi Abyss. Seats are not reserved.

1: Kanmangafuchi Abyss

Kanmangafuchi Abyss is a small gorge formed by an eruption of Mt. Nantai. There is a row of approximately 70 stone statues of Jizo (a Bodhisattva who is the protector of children) along the river, and legend says they mysteriously change in number each time they are counted. A botanical garden lies on the opposite side of the Jizo statues, where visitors can enjoy the scenery of the season.

As there are slopes and stairs in areas around Nikko Toshogu Shrine and Kanmangafuchi Abyss, wearing comfortable shoes as well as using a backpack are recommended. Walking distance during the tour is about 5km [3miles]

Shoes must be removed in some areas in Toshogu Shrine. Please participate wearing shoes that are easy to put on and take off

As there are land leeches from April to November, please be sure to keep your legs covered. We recommend wearing thick socks that cover the ankles and bringing bug spray

Parental permission in writing is necessary for all tour participants under the age of eighteen. Any participant under the age of fifteen or not yet enrolled in middle school must be joined by a parent or guardian on the tour

In general, the transfer from Shinjuku to Nikko will be a direct limited express train from JR Shinjuku Station to Tobu Nikko Station (also used for the return trip). However, due to timetable alterations or operation circumstances, the transportation to be used may be changed to JR Tohoku Shinkansen (non-reserved seat) + conventional line train, or a limited express train departing from Tobu Asakusa Station + subway. In any case, the transportation/limited express fare for the transportation route is included in the tour booking charge, and the guide will also accompany the tour from departure from Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo until arrival at Shinjuku Station.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Make your way to the centrally located meeting point in Tokyos Shinjuku neighborhood and jump on board your comfortable coach for a full day of exploring the Japanese capital.

After a visit to the Meiji Jingu shrine, arrive at the Imperial Palace, the current residence of the Imperial family, where youll visit either the East Garden or the Niju-bashi Bridge in the Outer Garden. Next is Senso-ji temple in Asakusa where youll have time to shop for souvenirs on Nakamise Avenue before enjoying a matcha-tasting experience and Japanese-style lunch.

Next up is the soaring Tokyo SkyTree where youll skip the line for the Tembo Deck observatory, which offers stunning city views. Then its on to the Odaiba district where youll take a ferry ride across Tokyo Bay and under Rainbow Bridge.

Sushi Making Class English-Friendly Japanese Cooking Experience

Experience the joy of making sushi in Japan with friendly, English-speaking instructors no experience necessary. Just bring your curiosity and appetite!

At the start time selected at checkout, greet your guide outside of Building Sasage B1F, a short walk from Akihabara station. Following a comprehensive safety briefing, youll present your driving license, climb aboard your go-kart, and explore Japans capital.

It is not necessary to wear a helmet or protective gear, so you will feel the exhilarating wind as you navigate the streets. Your local guide will lead you, so there is no need to worry. This guided go-kart rental is highly recommended for first-time visitors and drivers in Japan.

Drive your go-kart on public roads from Akihabara, the place well-known as an otaku city, to your requested destinations, such as the Imperial Palace and Ginza district. This is a rare opportunity to see the city from street level with the wheel in your hands like in Mario Kart.

There are free costume available to wear, but if you wish, you can purchase inexpensive costumes at the nearby Don Quijote shop. All karts are for one person - there are no multi-person karts. The guide will drive in a separate kart.

1: Sumida River

Just as Asakusas history started by the Sumida river, so do our tours. Across the Azumabashi bridge, we will see Tokyo Sky Tree, Asahi Breweries' headquarters with its world-famous golden flame object.

2: Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Center

From Sumida river, we will stroll to Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Center. This is not not just a valuable source of sightseeing information, but one of Asakusas newest sightseeing attractions. This 8-story building, designed by a world famous Japanese architect, has a very striking structure with the appearance of a stack of separate wooden buildings that seem piled up on top of each other at different angles. From the open terrace Observation Deck on the 8th floor of the Center, we will have a preview of the entire tour course: not just Tokyo Sky Tree and Asahi Flame we have just seen but the landmarks we are going to see including Kaminarimon gate, Nakamise shopping street, Hozomon gate, Sensoji Temple, and more.

3: Asakusa Kaminarimon Gate

Kaminarimon gate ("Thunder Gate") is the outer of two large entrance gates that ultimately leads to the Sens-ji temple. The gate, with its huge red lantern and statues, is popular among tourists. The guide will demystify this giant lantern and its surrounding objects.

4: Nakamise Shopping Street (Kaminarimon)

This shopping street connects Kaminarimon gate and Sensoji-temple's main gate. The 250 m approach is lined with a number of souvenir shops and food stalls. The guide will show you where to buy souvenirs you are interested in. The other fun part of strolling along it is that the guide will buy you traditional snacks in Asakusa; note that the guide may buy snacks in other places in the tour based on your preferences.
Toward the end of this long street, we will see a history tablets on its side which depict how Asakusa started and developed around Sensoji-temple.

5: Hozomon

The Hzmon (Treasure-House Gate) is the inner of two large entrance gates that ultimately leads to the Sens-ji temple (the outer being the Kaminarimon), Tokyo. A two-story gate, the Hzmon's second story houses many of the Sens-ji's treasures. We will see two statues, three lanterns and two large sandals housed in the first story.

6: Senso-ji Temple

Between Hozomon gate and Sensoji's main hall, we have a lot to see and do.
On the left, we will see Five-storied Pagoda the second highest (53m-high) pagoda in Japan built in 942. It holds Buddha's ashes on its top floor given by Sri Lankan goverment and buddhist society for goodwill between Sri Lanka and Japan.
We will have three major things to observe or do before entering the temple's main hall.
First:
- You will draw omikuji, or paper fortune, to predict your future (included in the costs you have already paid).
Second:
- Most Japanese stop at the huge bronze incense burner to bathe their hands and faces in the smoke. This is a ritual to ward off illnesses-before climbing the stairs to offer their prayers.
Third:
- Water purification fountain which people use to purify themselves before going inside the temple. You will also see a famous sculpture perching on the fountain.

We will now proceed to the main hall of the temple which is the climax of the tour. Look forward to what you will see and the guide will recount there!

To those familiar with religions,it is unfathomable that Busshist temple and shinto shrine coexist on the same premises and share both their origins and worshipers.
