Vientiane
On the banks of the Mekong River, where Vientiane is located, Laotians center their lives around this mighty river. That is to say that the Mekong River is veritable lifeblood to the Lao people no matter what part of the country they're living. Aside from being the country's epicenter, Vientiane is believed to house a breast bone of the Buddha in Pha That Luang. This great sacred stupa is a major attraction.
Walk around the peaceful Pha That Luang, marvel at the detail of Wat Si Saket, hangout at The Patuxai during sunset, shop at the night market by The Mekong River, meditate with monks at Wat Sok Pa Luang, have a traditional Laos herbal sauna and massage, and so much more. -
