The southern island chain is the one you will most likely be familiar with, as it is home to Rarotonga and other islands like Aitutaki, Atiu, and Palmerston Atoll.
The picturesque Fiji Islands, of which there are over 300, are scattered in the south Pacific, a result of volcanic activity through many millennia. The largest cities, including the capital, Suva, are on Viti Levu, and you will most likely start here before exploring Vanua Levu and such islands groups as the gorgeous Mamanuca Islands and the beautiful Yasawa Islands.
