Departing Queenstown we then make our way through the stunning Kawarau Gorge passing stunning views, the Kawarau Suspension Bridge and the famous Roaring Meg Lookout. Time and light permitting we will stop for that first great shot of the tour.

1: Cromwell

Exiting the Kawarau Gorge we enter the fruit and wine growing region of Cromwell. Passing huge fields of vines, we cross Lake Dunstan and follow this beautiful lake towards Lindis Pass.

Pass through Lindis Pass, one of only three alpine roads through the otherwise impassable Southern Alps we stop at the famous lookout.

4: Lake Pukaki

Turning west we begin to enter the Aoraki National Park and Lake Pukaki begins to emerge in front of us. Lake Pukaki is one of the bluest lakes you will ever see and is stunningly framed by the backdrop of Aoraki/Mt Cook and the Southern Alps. We stop for some amazing photos and to just marvel at the sight that we are beholding.

5: Aoraki Mount Cook National Park (Te Wahipounamu)

While in the national park you have 2.5 - 3 hours free time to enjoy free walks/hikes or one of the extra optional activities. Some of our recommendations include:
- Local hikes - walk the famous Hooker Valley or Kea Point Tracks for breathtaking scenery and photo opportunities.
Scenic flights see the region from the air and land on the Tasman Glacier. Which ever activity from these you decide to do we will pick you up and drop you off where you need to go and make sure you are well looked after.

The central Queenstown pickup location is the Marmolada Cafe on Camp Street.
We pick up from a range of different accommodations and bus stops. If we do not pick up directly at your hotel, we will advise the closest pick-up location.
After you book you will receive a message from our team to reconfirm your pick-up location and time. Please be at your pick-up location 10 minutes prior to the departure time provided. Your guides will wait up to 5 minutes after the time, and those that are late and miss their departure will not be entitled to a refund.

Kinross is our second stop and a fantastic location to try a range of different wines across multiple labels. 4: Lake Te Anau

After more amazing mountain, river and farmland views we arrive in Te Anau, home to Lake Te Anau, New Zealands second largest lake. While in this idyllic town we will stop for a break and maybe meet some of the local animals or wildlife. Continuing along the lake we stop at Te Anau Downs, the starting point for the Milford Track, to hear the stories and admire the views.

6: Eglinton Valley

Leaving Te Anau and entering Fiordland National Park we stop in Eglinton Valley. With views worthy of Lord of the Rings, this valley follows the path of an ancient glacier through Fiordland. One of the first major attractions as you enter the park, it really sets the scene for a journey that only get more impressive the deeper you get.

7: Mirror Lakes Walk

Our next stop on this epic adventure is Mirror Lakes for a short stroll to see the famous reflections of the Earl Mountains. Get the right day, take a good picture and no one with be able to tell which way is the right way up for the photo.

8: Lake Gunn

Continuing along the Milford Road we come across Lake Gunn. Named after a famous explorer and popular for fishing, often we will stop at Lake Gunn for some photos and to enjoy the peace.

9: Darran Mountains

Climbing in altitude we go deeper into the Darran Mountains and these views require another stop to admire and take photos. We are also entering the area where Kea (the worlds largest alpine parrot) like to live. Start keeping an eye out for these large, cheeky and colourful birds that never fail to thrill and entertain when found.

Homer Tunnel (Pass by)

The Homer Tunnel is a 1.2 km (0.75 miles) long road tunnel in the Fiordland region of the South Island of New Zealand, opened in 1953. New Zealand State Highway 94 passes through the tunnel, linking Milford Sound to Te Anau and Queenstown, by piercing the Darran Mountains at the Homer Saddle.[1] It connects between the valley of the Hollyford River to the east and that of the Cleddau to the west.

After the cruise on the way back we pull over to admire the elevated amazing views of the divide in the Southern Alps, close to the start of the Routeburn Track. While here the guide will tell you the stories of ancient Maori explorers.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Start your Dart River jet boat and funyak tour with a scenic transfer from central Queenstown, or meet your guide and group in Glenorchy, depending on the option chosen.

Travel along the lakeside to Glenorchy, the entryway to Mt. Aspiring National. You might recognize the lush forests and towering peaks of this winding river valley as Tolkiens Middle-earth, featured in the popular "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy.

After a safety briefing, put on your wetsuit and booties, lifejacket, fleece, and a dry bag. Then climb aboard the jet boat and prepare for a wild ride as you zoom at top speed through the water while listening to commentary about your surroundings.

In a secluded stretch of the Dart River, swap the jet boat for your funyak, which seats up to three people. Float downstream as you paddle peacefully over the shimmering turquoise water, following behind your guide in a flotilla. Explore secret side streams, rock pools, and chasms before stopping for a picnic lunch in the great outdoors. Soak up the stunning wilderness and then continue your funyak adventure after lunch. Keep an eye out for red deer, yellow-crowned parakeets, and other wildlife.
