Originally developed as a port of access for the mining settlements in the area, Strahan is now the main tourist centre for Tasmania`s west coast region, the gateway for boats, planes and helicopters taking visitors to the southwest wilderness. At the northernmost end of Strahan Harbor, People`s Park is a mix of natural forest and botanical gardens, with picnic and camping facilities. From here it is a 30 minute walk to the Hogarth Falls through rainforest. Another interesting place is the Cape Sorell Lighthouse, constructed in 1899, 40 m high and 2.5 m in diameter. From the Water Tower Hill you can admire the excellent view of town and Macquarie Harbor. Visit the Ocean Beach a desolate and beautiful 40 km long stretch with large dunes. Waves hitting here have traveled all the way from Patagonia in South America.
Enjoy the real Australia while as you discover the beauty of Tasmania, an island full of unspoiled scenery and picturesque charm. From Hobart (largest city, chief port, and capital of Tasmania) from here take a rental car to continue to Cradle Mountain (is the iconic gateway to the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, one of the most popular natural areas; full of jagged contours, wild landscape, beautiful rainforest and alpine heathlands, glacial lakes and a wide variety of wildlife) and finally, Launceston (famed for the Cataract Gorge, with panoramic views, walking trails, sculpted gardens and a chairlift and for its vineyards of the Tamar Valley). This is a flexible vacation package. Select your number of nights in each city, desired hotel and activities.
