This once excellent capital city, masterminded 80 km from Ayutthaya was squashed by the Burmese outfitted power in 1767 and is at present an UNESCO world heritage site. A broad number of palaces, temples and chedis are yet standing. In 1782 Ayutthaya transformed into the capital of Thailand. The main sights fuse the huge bronze statues of Vihara Phra Mongkhon Bophit, moreover Wat Phra Sri Sanphet and Wat Yai Chai Mang Khon.

2: Wihan Phra Mongkhon Bophit

It's large bronze seated Buddha image or Phra Mongkhon Bophit is one of the largest bronze Buddha images in Thailand with its measures of 9.5 meters across the lap and a height of 12.5 meters. The Buddha image is seated in the position of Subduing Mara. During the second fall of Ayutthaya, the building and the image were badly destroyed by fire. The present Vihara and Buddha image have been reconstructed and renovated in the reign of King Rama V. The open area located east of the Vihara was formerly Sanam Luang, where royal cremation ceremonies took place.

3: Wat Yai Chaya Mongkol

One of the most important temples in Ayutthaya, Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon has a long and illustrious history. And unlike many of the other ancient sites in Ayutthaya, this is still an active temple where monks reside. Thai people visit Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon to not only pay respects to Buddha, but also to pay homage to one of the most respected kings in Thai history, King Naresuan the Great.

4: Wat Phra Sri Sanphet

Wat Phra Sri Sanphet is situated on the city island in Ayutthayas World Heritage park in Pratu Chai Sub-district. It has been registered as a national historic site by the Fine Arts Department since 5 March 1935. This monastery was the most important temple of Ayutthaya and situated within the Grand Palace grounds. It served as a model for the Temple of the Emerald Buddha in Bangkok.

5: Temple of the Reclining Buddha (Wat Lokayasutharam)

Wat Lokaya Sutha, the temple of the Earth is located near the North West tip of the historical island near the old Royal Palace and Wat Phra Si Sanphet. Highlight of the monastery is its 42 meter long Reclining Buddha image, usually draped in orange cloth. Apart from the central prang which is in fairly good condition, little more than the base of the main buildings remains today.

In Thai, these markets are called talat nam which literally means water market, but is translated to English as floating market. Of course, there are some vendors on small wooden boats that cook and sell their food to visitors. Bang Pa-In Palace is ancient palace back to Ayutthaya era. The Royal Palace at Bang Pa-In has a history dating back to the 17 th century. The palace is divide into 2 zone one is inner zone that for royal family to use as a resting place the other zone is outer zone that open for normal people and tourist. The architecture and art style of this palace is truly a masterpiece there are carving art on every wall the main chamber floor is Jay tile with art paint on each tile also surrounding area decorate by Chinese furniture and decoration.

2: Wat Mahathat

It is one of the oldest and most significant temples in the history of Ayutthaya as it housed the Buddha's holy relic. The temple is located in the area of the Ayutthaya Historical Park. where important royal ceremonies of the Ayutthaya era were held.

3: Historic City of Ayutthaya

The Historic City of Ayutthaya, founded in 1350. The city was attacked and razed by the Burmese army in 1767 who burned the city to the ground and forced the inhabitants to abandon the city. The city was never rebuilt in the same location and remains known today as an extensive archaeological site.
Ayutthaya is now an archaeological ruin, characterized by the remains of tall prang (reliquary towers) and Buddhist monasteries of monumental proportions, which give an idea of the citys past size and the splendor of its architecture.

4: Wat Chaiwatthanaram

Built in 1630 by King Prasat Thong to honor his mother, Wat Chai Wattanaram was conceived as a replica of the Angkor temple. The architectural style influenced by Angkor temple in Cambodia-its unique feature is a large, central prang (Khmer-style pagoda) surrounded by smaller prangs.

5: Wihan Phra Mongkhon Bophit

Phra Mongkhon Bophit is one of the largest bronze Buddha images in Thailand with its
measures of (approx) 9.5 meters across the lap and a height of 12.5 meters (without the
pedestal). The Buddha image is seated in the position of Subduing Mara.
Wat Mongkhon Bophit is an 'active' temple compound, and throughout the day many people visit and worship the Buddha image.

6: Wat Phra Sri Sanphet

The Temple is not only a significant historical site, but also considered as the spiritual centre of Thais for a long time. Wat Phra Sri Sanphet is the royal monastery and therefore no monk is allowed to reside. At the heart of the temple, there are three adjacent Ceylonese (or bell-shaped) pagodas situated on rectangular platforms. It is believed that these platforms were the base of royal houses in the Ayutthaya period.
