Covering four street blocks just southeast of the Clock Tower, Chiang Rai Night Bazaar is a nice diversion from Jet Yod Roads bar-hopping scene. Vendors start to set up their stalls at around sunset, but it doesnt get busy until after 19:00. What you will find here is a range of hill-tribe crafts, such as knitted scarves, embroidered bags, silver jewellery, bed spreads, wallets and fashion accessories, along with T-shirts, sneakers and a range of sculptural art and handicrafts. Always negotiate before you buy, as vendors tend to mark up the price at least twice as much as it usually costs elsewhere. Apart from shopping, the Night Bazaar has two outdoor stages for cultural performances and a beer garden/food court where you can grab a quick bite or dinner. Beers are limited to local varieties.

Longneck Karen is one of Karen tribes. They call themselves Padaung. It is believed that originally they came from Yunnan Province, central China. Later in 1000 AD according to the history, they migrated to Salween River Basin in Myanmar. In 1995, there were approximately 25,000 Padaungs living in Myanmar. They mainly live on traditional agricultural activities. After political incident against the minorities in Myanmar, Padaungs have evacuated from Myanmar and until now cannot fully identify where is the major location they are living in. It is believed that they scattered all over the area and co-live with other minority group that armed so that they can be protected.

4: Golden Triangle

Golden Triangle The wonder of Golden Triangle is the visit to 3 countries; Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos, in one place. It is 9 kilometres north of Chiang Saen along the Mekong riverside road. Sop Ruak is the place where Mekong River, the border between Thailand and Laos, meets Ruak River, the border between Thailand and Myanmar. In the past, Golden Triangle was the world's large source of drug trafficking owing to its privileged location attached to many countries. However, it is currently taken good care of and becomes a popular tourist attraction. From the viewpoint, the tourists will find the land that connects the three countries, surrounded by long and calm waterway. There is boat rental service at Sop Ruak so that the tourists can admire the view at Golden Triangle. The trip takes only 20 minutes. Besides, the tourists can rent the boat from Sop Ruak to Chiang Saen and Chiang Khong for 40 minutes and 1 hour and a half, respectively.

5: Wat Rong Seur Ten (Blue Temple)

Is located in the Rong Suea Ten community, Rim Kok subdistrict. It is a Temple that was restored by Mr. Phutta Kabkaew or Sala Nok, a Local artist of Chiang Rai and a student of Achan Chalermchai Kositpipat. The temple is unusually beautiful with its unique applied arts by using a shade of blue and architectural beauty from a stucco artist.

In the Ubosot, in addition to having a beautiful, unique design, there are also murals depicting the story of the Buddhas life. It also enshrines Phra Phuttha Ratchamongkhon Bodi Trailok Nak, which means the auspicious majestic Buddha of three worlds. The image is very attractive and is 6.5 metres tall and has a lap width of 5 metres. Inside the image contains 88,000 Phra Rot Lamphun images, and there are rings of gold and silver plus many valuables buried under the Buddha image. In addition, the area of the head contains the Buddhas relics, which was bestowed by Somdet Phra Sangharaja Chao Kromma Luang Vajirananasamvara.

The Black House is a complex of 40 buildings, most made of dark teak wood, set in large, beautiful gardens. In Thai known as Baan Dam, meaning Black House, the buildings house a collection of paintings, sculptures, silver and gold items, animal bones and skins.

2: Wat Rong Seur Ten (Blue Temple)

Wat Rong Suea Ten is simply called The Blue Temple. The large ordination hall was completed in 2016 and is therefore relatively unknown to tourists. The name Suea Ten literally means dancing tiger. The temple is similarly rich in artistic value and just as fantastic in the execution like the white temple. The creators of this blue wonder were once the disciples of the builder of the White Temples

3: Baan Dam Museum

Baan Dam (Black House) is the unique creation of national artist, Thawan Duchanee. It is a part art studio and part museum. The black house is an eclectic mix of traditional northern. A collection of around 40 buildings of varying shapes and sizes dotted around a peaceful garden.

4: Union Hilltribe Villages

Longneck Karen is one of Karen tribes. They call themselves Padaung. It is believed that originally they came from Yunnan Province, central China. Later in 1000 AD according to the history, they migrated to Salween River Basin in Myanmar. In 1995, there were approximately 25,000 Padaungs living in Myanmar. They mainly live on traditional agricultural activities. After political incident against the minorities in Myanmar, Padaungs have evacuated from Myanmar and until now cannot fully identify where is the major location they are living in.

6: Golden Triangle

The Golden Triangle is a region in the Laos, Thailand and Myanmar borderlands where opium poppy is grown and processed into heroin. The significance of the Golden Triangle as a supplier to the global heroin market has dropped significantly as a result of drug production in Afghanistan.

The Golden Triangle is synonymous with opium, heroin, and drug trafficking in Southeast Asia. The term dates back to 1971. It goes back partly to the geometric shape of the triangle-forming countries Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and Laos, on the other probably on the gold, with the Chinese traders initially paid the opium.

7: House of Opium

The museum was founded by Patcharee Srimatyakul in 1990. Born in the area, Patcharee had a passion for collecting opium paraphernalia and memorabilia. When she noticed that opium items were becoming extremely hard to find with Thailand cracking down on the illegal drug trade she turned the collection into a museum open to the public.

The exhibits display tools and objects used to plant, harvest and trade opium, including pipes, scales, weights, knives, scrapers. It also includes some lovely poppy flowers, the source of opium production.
