The only surviving city gate of ancient Hanoi, O Quan Chuong, also known as the Old City Gate or Old East Gate, was named after a chief of the army to remember him and other Nguyen soldiers who fought against the French. Quan Chuong, better known as the old east gate of the city of Hanoi, is the very last of the 16 city gates standing today. After 1.5hour drive, you arrive at the park. Our car will take you to Pine forest where you would do a hiking to discover the neglected ruins. It is ancient French church (Ruins). The collapsed church is located in the jungle, 800 meters above ground. The roof has been long gone, leaving the whole structure vulnerable to the elements. The cross still remains, but the whole cathedral is covered in moss, mold, mist, grasses, and even trees, having been empty for many years. But then again, the sight is a stunning evidence of both history and beauty.

2: Tàn Tích Nhà Tù Thi Pháp French Prison Ruins

During the French colonial presence in Vietnam, system of prisons intended to detain local patriots and revolutionists including one erected in Ba Vi National Park. Nowadays, Only moss walls are left, covered by grass and trees, but with what is left, one can still imagine the wild immage in the pine forest in the heyday. Today, Ba Vi becomes a favorite site for photographers. You would also have chance to walk through the jungle and visit the old green cypress trees as well as the stunning flora and fauna surrounding.
Especially, located at Point 600m is the historical battle of Ba Vi Regiment on Dec 31, 1951 that successfully broke off the Da river defense line of the French, leading to the victory of Hoa Binh campaign in 1952. You would also have chance to walk through the jungle and visit the old green cypress trees as well as the stunning flora and fauna surrounding.

Have lunch at the food zone nearby and you should try some specialties from the mountainous area of Ba Vi park (the lunch is not included and you pay. It costs around 9 USD per person for a lunch in the park)
Then change your direction to the King High Peak Temple (called n Thng in Vietnamese) - a hollowed site for worshiping Tan Vien Saint. The peak at 1,227 meters where the Tan Vien shrine was built in the 11th Century in honor of a legendary hero who had helped Vietnamese in their hard struggle. Only tens of steps more would let you stand on the Tan Vien peak (or Vong Canh peak, or the viewpoint) where dense of fogs and clouds cling to your feet, make you feel like standing at the border between heaven and earth.

WHAT TO EXPECT

1: Bike Tours Hanoi - Bicycle Tours Hanoi

Your tour guide will pick you up at your hotel lobby either at 8:00AM or 13:00. We'll then head to our Bicycle store to choose suitable bikes for you. After getting a safety briefing and feeling comfortable with your bike, we'll begin our ride.

Our Hanoi city bicycle tour starts with a visit to Long Bien Bridge, a symbol of the strength and resilience of the Hanoian people. This iconic bridge, built by the famous Eiffel Construction Company in 1902, offers a stunning panoramic view of the Red River below. Next, we'll ride through Red River Island, passing peaceful banana and corn farms that are hidden away from the busy streets where local farmers grow an array of fruits and vegetables. Despite its central location, this farming island is often overlooked by travelers, making it a hidden gem to discover on our Bike Tours Hanoi.

2: West Lake

Continuing our cycling journey, we will follow the banks of Westlake and pause to admire the breathtaking view from Thanh Nien road. This is an ideal spot to witness the contrast between the historic and charming Old Quarter on one side, and the modern skyline on the other.

3: Huu Tiep Lake and the Downed B-52

On our bicycle tour, we will immerse ourselves in the vibrant atmosphere of Hanoi, exploring bustling local markets and taking in the city's sights, sounds, and smells. Next, we'll cycle to Huu Tiep Lake in Ngoc Ha Flower Village to see the remains of an American B-52 aircraft that was shot down during the Christmas bombing in 1972. We'll also visit a local family's home to gain insight into Hanoian traditions and everyday life, with our guide serving as a translator.

Ba Dinh Square (Pass by)

During this tour, we will pass by some of the major highlights of Hanoi, including the nearly 200-year-old Hanoi Flag Tower, which is known as one of the symbols of the city. We'll also see the Hanoi Opera House, the 1000-year-old Royal Thang Long Citadel, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Presidential Palace, Ba Dinh Square, Tran Quoc Temple, and Truc Bach Lake.

4: Dung Tau

We'll ride along the hundred-year-old Reunification train track that goes through the heart of Hanoi, where locals live mere centimeters away. It's an immersive experience that offers a glimpse into the bustling and vibrant local life of Hanoi. Afterward, we'll stop for lunch at a local restaurant to indulge in the city's delicious cuisine. Before returning to your hotel, try the unique Egg Coffee to satisfy your caffeine cravings. Let us show you our love for Hanoi.

5: Long Bien Bridge

Then well head out for our ride!First we cross the Red river by Long Bien bridge the oldest one in Hanoi built over 100 years ago under French colonial time to enjoy the panoramic view of the Red River, watch the boats float underneath and see the green vegetable farm on the island.
