December - April

The dry season which is also considered the high season in Costa Rica runs from December to April when the days are filled with sunshine and hot, humid weather. These months are perfect for beach days spent along the glistening Caribbean and Pacific jungle-fringed coastlines and exploring the spectacular national parks in the country. There may be some tropical showers during this time of year but they are usually short bursts and a relief from the afternoon heat. These conditions make this arguably the best time to visit Costa Rica bringing in tourists from all over the world to experience the country’s scenic beauty, abundance of wildlife, and outdoor adventurous activities.

This time of year does bring higher prices for accommodation and airfare, this also means that places will be alot more crowded, especially around the holidays like Christmas, New Year, and Easter. As well as March is a very popular time to visit when beach seekers are traveling for spring break and arrive in droves from across the globe. Visitors can see some of the country’s most spectacular wildlife during the dry months such as the soaring Quetzals, and waddling green turtles. During this time of year, the verdant rainforests are flourishing and the gushing waterfalls are a pure spectacle to see. Many fun and exciting events and activities take place in Costa Rice this time of year with things like bullfights, dancing, and live music, along with beautiful holiday festivals.
