May to September

During this time of year, the Yala monsoon season is in effect on the southwest and west coasts. Meanwhile, the weather on the East Coast and northern regions of the country stays relatively dry during this time of year. This is the time of year to visit the east coast of Sri Lanka, the days are filled with sunshine, and humidity levels drop to around 60% with average temperatures that sit in the mid-80s, making it the absolute perfect time for a beach holiday vacation. The north-east coastal areas of Jaffna and Mullaitivu enjoy their driest weather between May and September, as they are affected by the north-east monsoon season.
