Decmber - April (High Season)
High season (or winter season) is when hotel rates are at their peak, this season runs roughly from mid-Dec to mid-April. However, package and resort rates are sometimes lower in January, as a tourist slump usually occurs right after the Christmas holidays. February is the busiest month. A minimum of six months in advance is recommended when booking travel during high season. Occasionally, there are last-minute travel deals, but waiting can be risky.
Greater numbers of people tend to visit during spring break and holidays, but the biggest attraction is Carnival, which happens in April on St. Thomas, December on St. Croix, and July on St. John.
