June - November

June to November is the official hurricane season in the Caribbean, the Virgin Islands chain sits in the main hurricane pathway and the islands are often hit. If you plan to travel during the hurricane season, be sure to stay on top of the weather conditions. August and September are the prime months for storms brewing in the tropics, there can be several storms at a time, so just be aware and plan accordingly while also booking travel insurance in case of trip cancellation. The Islanders celebrate a legal holiday called `Supplication Day` the third week in July, asking to be spared from devastating storms, and in late October they celebrate the end of the season with a `Hurricane Thanksgiving Day`.

This time of year is the rainy season on the islands with September and November receiving the most rainfall. These are usually short but heaving tropical thunderstorm showers that occur daily in the afternoons, pretty much like clockwork, it cools things down. There is still plenty of sunshine to enjoy and the landscapes are lush with verdant vegetation and beautiful blooming tropical flowers.
