Dry Season - December - March

The Dry season occurs from the end of November and is in full effect during the month of December through to March. This is a great time of year to enjoy the country and great weather for outdoor activities, concerts, holiday celebrations, and nightlife. December is the best month to visit the country according to Nigerians when the Harmattan winds blow from the Sahara toward the Gulf of Guinea. These winds bring in cooler, dryer temperatures and lots of events for the holiday season. Several events are planned to coincide with this annual return of diaspora Nigerians living abroad to enjoy Christmas and New Year festivities with events and festivals held throughout the month.

The end of December through early January brings fewer crowds to the country after the buzz of the holiday season. Many cities are less congested at this time of year and prices for accommodations tend to be lower. January is a good month to explore and enjoy some nice weather with favorably fewer crowds.

The weather starts to warm up in February but still offers comfortable temperatures to spend time outdoors. A good time to visit the beautiful beaches of Nigeria. March brings the heat and humidity to the country, especially in the north and along the coast. This time of year is hot and humid but cool nights are great for outdoor concerts.
