Summer - June - August

The summer months in Hong Kong can be pleasantly warm, but the temperatures begin to heat up and the highs and lows range between 79-88F degrees. From June to September the temperatures rise and the air is hot and humid with the occasional thunderstorms, especially in the mornings. This time of year is popular for holidaygoers to hit the islands and beaches in the country, or spend the day on the water. The shorelines of Repulse Bay are a happening destination with a beach and a bustling strip of restaurants and bars. Big Wave Bay is popular with avid surfers, Cheung Sha on Lantau Island is the longest beach in the country. Hong Kong’s famous typhoons make their appearance during this time of year and can create dramatic changes in weather. Visitors can find relief inside air-conditioned shopping malls, museums, and art galleries in the summer months. The summer offers many carnivals and events such as the Dragon Boat Festival, music festivals, and more.
