March - May (Spring)

Spring in Azerbaijan is a time of renewal, as the country awakens from winter with vibrant blooms and mild, comfortable temperatures. It’s the perfect season to explore the country’s rich landscapes - lush lowlands, rolling hills, and the foothills of the Caucasus and Talysh Mountains all burst into color, offering spectacular settings for hiking, photography, and nature walks.

By mid-spring, the alpine meadows of the Greater Caucasus are blanketed in wildflowers, creating postcard-perfect views. It’s also an ideal time to visit Qobustan (Gobustan) National Reserve, where ancient petroglyphs carved by prehistoric civilizations are etched into dramatic rock formations.

In May, the weather is perfect for exploring Azerbaijan’s historic and natural gems. Lakes like Goygol and Maralgol near Ganja glisten beneath the mountains, while ancient cities such as Sheki and Gabala offer a mix of history, charm, and scenic beauty. Hirkan National Park, home to rare and endemic flora, is a must-visit for eco-tourists, especially during this green and blooming season.

Spring also brings Novruz, Azerbaijan’s beloved New Year celebration. Rooted in ancient traditions, this festival marks the arrival of spring with bonfires, dancing, sweets, and symbolic rituals. Visitors are warmly welcomed to join in the festivities and experience Azerbaijani culture firsthand.
