From early June to late August, Azerbaijan experiences its hottest and sunniest weather, with temperatures in cities like Baku and Ganja often soaring past 100°F. To escape the heat, many travelers head to the cooler mountains or the refreshing shores of the Caspian Sea.

Near Baku, Bilgah and Shikhov beaches offer soft sands and calm waters, while Lankaran, with its black-sand beaches and lush tea plantations, provides a peaceful seaside retreat.

Summer is also festival season. From major events like the Azerbaijan Grand Prix and Summer International Music Festival to local gems like the Nomadic Culture Festival in Gadabay, where you can sample traditional food and meet locals, there’s something for everyone.

For outdoor enthusiasts, the Greater and Lesser Caucasus offer breathtaking hikes and cooler temperatures. July kicks off the high-altitude trekking season. Adventurous climbers can take on Mt Bazardüzü, Azerbaijan’s highest peak, or enjoy a more accessible ascent up Mt Babadag. Multi-day treks to Mt Sahdag and Mt Tufandag begin from the ancient village of Xinaliq, while Shahdag National Park is perfect for scenic walks, wildlife spotting, and relaxing drives.
