Dry Season - November - April
This time of year is a good time to travel to escape the higher temperatures. November to February is the best time to escape the heat of the southern regions of the country and head to higher altitude destinations like the Bolaven Plateau. Many northern regions in Laos can experience freezing temperatures this time of year, and be aware of slash-and-burn conditions in and around Luang Prabang, resulting in smoke-filled skies beginning in March and lasting through May.
Visitors can also experience the rivers at their best during this time, as the levels are at their highest throughout the country. The dry season offers cooler, more comfortable temperatures with high 70°Fs in January to low 80°Fs beginning in April. The flora and fauna are in abundance this time, as the rainy season has just ended, and everything is blooming. A great time of year to experience the outdoors with hiking, cycling, rock climbing, kayaking, river rafting, river tours, and cruises among some of the popular activities.
