May - November (Wet Season)

The rainy season in Honduras, known locally as invierno, lasts from May to November and is characterized by high humidity and frequent afternoon or evening rain showers, particularly in the inland regions. While many stay away during the wet season, it’s a great option for budget-conscious travelers, birdwatchers, and those seeking rainforest adventures, as long as you're prepared for muddy trails. The Caribbean coast, especially around La Ceiba and the Bay Islands, tends to get the heaviest rainfall during this time. It's also worth noting that hurricane season overlaps with the rainy season, running from June to November, with the highest risk of storms between August and October.

Events and Festivals: La Ceiba, this is the largest carnival in Central America held in late May, Sea Turtle Nesting Season (June to October), & Independence Day on September 15.
