It was built on the historic hill of Simeons Mound which has a magnificent view over the Black Sea coast between Aheloy and Pomorie.
Here, the Bulgarian king Simeon the Great defeated the Byzantine army in a battle in 917 A.D., thus affirming the power and position of Bulgaria. In honor of Simeons victory, we raised a monument named "The Eye of the Winner", which became a symbol for the winery and is invariably depicted on our wine label.
