Located in the historic Honister Slate Mine, on this tour you will see the fells of the Lake District from a totally unique anglemore than 2000 ft. high. Climb up the side of Fleetwith Pike using the Via Ferrata and follow your guide to the top for a view of the North Lakes you wont forget. Walk through the mines tunnel system to reach the Via Ferrata, and learn about the mine as you head out on your adventure, if you like.

WHAT TO EXPECT

After putting on the safety gear we will walk the 10min to the start of the course, passing through some of the old mine tunnels. Once there it's a mixture of rock climbing, steep ladders, bridges and a cargo net to reach the dizzy heights of Fleetwith Pike nearly 650m high.

We then start a unique underground adventure inside the caverns of Honister slate mine. Similar to a Via Ferrata you will climb the walls, scale bridges and tackle wobbly ladders in this subterranean world. An adrenaline filled adventure climbing / scrambling activity that uses a permanently fixed cable for safety and protection up the rock face. This is the perfect activity regardless of weather.

WHAT TO EXPECT

You will learn the basic skills of climbing, belaying and attaching yourself to the climbing rope. We will complete a number of different rock climbs, and maybe an abseil too. There is a massive choice of climbs available, including some of the best in the UK, so no matter your fitness / skill level we can give you an enjoyable, challenging and fun session out.

OVERVIEW

Our company have been operating lake cruises on Ullswater in the heart of the Lake District National Park since 1859 offering visitors an opportunity to experience this treasured landscape from a different perspective. Excellent facilities at the main pier houses. Toilets and licensed bars onboard, with seating outside on the upper decks and inside the lower deck saloons. Cruise through iconic mountain and countryside panoramas. Starting at Glenridding Pier, it is a one-hour cruise to Pooley Bridge Pier. There is an option to get off at Pooley Bridge but check your return cruise time back to Glenridding. It is a 15 minute walk to Pooley Bridge village with a selection of tea rooms, pubs and independent shops, pick up a souvenir before returning to the pier for your cruise back Glenridding.
