Ready to follow the footsteps of 007? Then follow us. Our Bond saga starts with one of the most iconic venues in London that's Somerset House. Somerset House is a massive neoclassical building in central London, built on the southern part of the beach with a view to the Thames River, just east of Waterloo Bridge. Sir William Chambers built the Georgian Quadrangle on the site of a palace in Tudor times that belonged to the duke of Somerset in 1776. Somerset House's history goes back to Tudors in 1547 when our famous King Henry VIII passed away. Therefore, it's one of the important buildings in London and this is why 007 loves Somerset House. Let's get closer.

2: Rules

In Bond's movie Spectre in 2015, you can clearly see London's oldest restaurant in Covent Garden. Filming took place inside and outside the Rules restaurant. Rules is also mentioned in Downton Abbey series as well as in some novels written by famous writers.

3: National Gallery

We are now heading to the National Gallery where Bond climbed their stairs in the Skyfall movie at the entrance to Trafalgar Square and meet with the fictional character Q in gallery 34 in order to get his supergun for his next mission. Trafalgar Square is a very touristic public square with some of London's most popular attractions, from galleries and historic buildings to monuments and statues, you can be a part of deep-seated British history. The Square also holds a series of events all year round. Listen to the stories of the kings such as Charles I, Charles IV, Admiral Horatio Nelson, General Sir Charles James Napier and Major General Sir Henry Havelock who shaped the history of this nation. Parliament Square is one of London's favourite film locations in Bond series. As soon as Bond exits from Westminster Tube Station, he was dashing to the court through the Whitehall Street in order to prevent the assassination of M. 3: Westminster Abbey

The Abbey has been the coronation church since 1066, and is the final resting place of 17 monarchs, as well as the scene of 16 Royal weddings. The church we see today was begun by Henry III in 1245. Its one of the most important Gothic buildings in the country, and has the medieval shrine of an Anglo-Saxon saint at its heart.
Today it is still a church dedicated to regular worship and to the celebration of great events in the life of the nation. Neither a cathedral nor a parish church, Westminster Abbey (or the Collegiate Church of St Peter, Westminster to give it its correct title) is a "Royal Peculiar" under the jurisdiction of a Dean and Chapter, subject only to the Sovereign and not to any archbishop or bishop.

4: St. Paul's Cathedral

For more than 1,400 years, a Cathedral dedicated to St Paul has stood at the highest point in the City.
Frequently at the centre of national events, traditions have been observed here and radical new ideas have found expression under the iconic dome. In many cases these events have left some physical record as well as echoes in the intangible memory of the building.
The present Cathedral, the masterpiece of Britain's most famous architect Sir Christopher Wren, is at least the fourth to have stood on the site. It was built after its predecessor was destroyed in the Great Fire of London in 1666, and services began in 1697.
This was the first Cathedral to be built after the English Reformation in the sixteenth-century, when Henry VIII removed the Church of England from the jurisdiction of the Pope and the Crown took control of the life of the church.

On September 3rd 1939 the United Kingdom declared war on Germany. Over a year later on 7th of September 1940, London was at the receiving end of Germanys 'Lightning'. It has been 75 years since what residents of London, England call "The Longest Night." That night of May 10-11, 1941 was filled with harrowing air raid sirens as bombs dropped from the darkened skies. When the sun finally came up, it was finally over. After eight months of sustained air attacks, Hitler gave up on trying to break the spirit of Londoners with sustained nighttime bombing attacks.

The bombing offensive was known as "The Blitz," short for the German "blitzkrieg," which translates as "lightning war " but as you will learn, nothing could derail the spirit if the fighting British whose we can win attitude helped them not only to survive but to rebuild London.

On this fully guided tour you will visit the vet streets of the City of London where bombs dropped for 56 days, hear about harrowing tales, heroic deeds, and tragic losses. This tour will uncover the behind-the-scenes world of London at war, revealing how these terrifying events have reshaped and rebuilt the city that we know today.

The Imperial War Museum, located in the Crystal Palace at Sydenham, opened in 1920. Several years later, in 1936, it was moved to what was previously the Bethlem Royal Hospital in Southwark. The ground floor is one of the most interesting floors as it contains heavy weapons, including tanks and rockets. On the first floor, it is worthwhile visiting the Secret War exhibition on Special Forces, espionage and covert operations. The second and third floors explore the horrors of the Holocaust with original objects and material.
