Trip Summary

  • Nice (French Riviera)

Nice is the capital of the Riviera, yet far less glamorous and expensive than Cannes. It's also one of the most ancient, having been founded by the Greeks, who called it 'Nike' or Victory. Because of its brilliant sunshine and relaxed living, it has attracted in the past famous artists and writers. The best trip base on the Riviera, you can choose to explore the region or lounge in its famous cafes. But the most obvious hangout spot here is the beach. The beach in Nice consists of rocks so wear a pair of good sandals.

Explore the Promenade des Anglais, Musee Matisse, Russian Orthodox Cathedral, Cours Saleya, Castle Hill, Old Town, Place Massena and so much more!

  • St Paul de Vence

The charming perched village of Saint-Paul-de-Vence, hovering between Nice and Cannes among the Provencal hills, has long drawn a chic crowd. Picasso and Matisse were among the pioneers. It has kept much of its medieval allure, and added a world-class art gallery to the mix. With an average of 300 days of sunshine a year, Saint-Paul has a uniquely mild climate. Most of the stone houses along rue Grande are from the 16th and 17th centuries, many still bearing the coats of arms placed here by the original builders. Today most of them are antique shops, art-and-crafts galleries, and souvenir gift shops. Explore The Old Town, Place du jeu de boules, Porte de Vence, Marc Chagall Cemetery, Rue Grande, La Placette, Fondation Maeght, Chapelle Sainte-Claire, and so much more!

  • French Riviera - West

The Western French Riviera boasts a picturesque coast and beautiful medieval villages. Among some of the highlights in the western Var is the Iles d'Hyeres, the islands are a short distance off the coast and include the Ile de Porquerolles, a major and magnificent coastal attraction forming the Port Cros National Park. On the coast in the western Var and close to the popular coastal resorts of La Croix-Valmer and Cavalaire-sur-Mer, we recommend a visit to the vineyards and wines in this region. Gassin, Ramatuelle and La croix-Valmer are charming medieval village towns just inland from Saint Tropez offering the perfect contrast to the Riviera resorts. Make sure to take a journey on the coast road south of the Massif d'Esterel, one of the most scenic coast roads in France offering the most beautiful views in every direction. br /> Visit St. Raphael, Frejus, Les Issambres, Saint-Maxime, Grimaud, Port Grimaud, Gassin, La Croix-Valmar, Cavalaire-sur-Mer, Le Rayol-Canadel-sur-Mar, Cavaliere, Le Lavandou, and so much more!
