WHAT TO EXPECT

Meet your knowledgeable guide at the tourist information office in the middle of Strasbourg, where youll climb into a comfortable minivan to start your tour. Head out along the Alsace Wine Route (Routes des Vins dAlsace in French), which is a 105-mile (170-km) route winding through the rolling hills at the base of the Vosges Mountains. This area is home to hundreds of famous vineyards.

The first stop on your wine tour is the wine area called Mittelbergheim, where the grands crus of Kastelberg, Zotzenberg and Wiebelsberg are located. This area is known for its excellent Riesling wines, which are typically thought of as German. At the first winery of your tour, sample Riesling along with some sylvaner and pinot blanc.

Next, head for Dambach-la-Ville. This village produces more wine than any other in Alsace, including one of the finest Alsatian wines of all frankstein grand cru. At the second winery stop of the tour, sample wines in a classic wine cellar (caveau in French) while learning how the regions soil and climate combine to produce exceptional Riesling and gewürztraminer wines.

Take a break at midday for lunch (own expense), followed by a visit to the Ribeauvillé-Riquewihr wine area. There are five grands cru here Kirchberg, Osterberg, Geisberg, Schoenenbourg and Sporen. Here again youll find the wine production is dominated by Riesling, although other wines of note include Muscat, gewürztraminer and pinot gris.

Spend some time in the charming villages of Ribeauvillé and Riquewihr, where youll have your last two wine tasting sessions at two of the best-loved wineries in the Alsace. Hear about how some of the chateaux making wine in the area such as the Hugel and Trimbach families have been making wine in the area for hundreds of years.

At the conclusion of a day-long wine tour through the Alsace, climb back into the minivan for the relaxing ride back to Strasbourg.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Your day trip from Strasbourg begins when you meet your guide aboard the awaiting minivan in the town center. Settle into air-conditioned comfort for the scenic drive.

The first stop is the village of Colmar, where youll go on a walking tour with your guide. The towns cobblestoned streets are lined with characteristic German-style half-timbered buildings, and youll even see some canals. See Colmars main sights, including Saint Martins Church and the 16th-century Pfister House, and wander historic neighborhoods like Little Venice.

Your next stop is the picturesque town of Eguisheim, known for its Medieval buildings decorated with flowers, and then its on to Riquewihr. The charming town sits inside Medieval walls, and is a warren of meandering alleys and chocolate-box houses. Enjoy some time to explore the pretty town at your leisure, including time to have lunch (own expense).

Continuing on your Alsace tour, the next point of interest is the 105-mile (170 km) Alsace Wine Route (Route des Vins dAlsace). This scenic road curves gently through rolling hills and past acres of vineyards at the foot of the Vosges Mountains. Continue toward your final stop Haut Koenigsbourg Castle (Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg).

The castle dates from the 12th century, and youll have a chance to explore the inside including where people once lived inside it and find out how this powerful fortress used to control the salt, wheat and wine routes from northern and eastern Europe. Freiburg is an historic university town inside one of Germanys main wine-growing regions and not far from the Black Forest. After you arrive, youll follow your guide on a walking tour around the town. Pass stately townhomes as you walk through cobblestoned streets and squares, hearing about Freiburgs history and architecture dating back to the 11th century.

Admire the Freiburg Minster the towns majestic sandstone cathedral that overlooks Münsterplatz square. Take in the impressive sight, with the decorative doorway and many spires and carved gargoyles looking down. Wander the narrow streets around the cathedral to see things like the arcades of the Kaufhaus and the little brooks running near the Minster.

OVERVIEW

The tasting begins at the cellar. Follows the projection of an explanatory video on the production of Alsace wines (suitable for children). Then we will go to visit the cellar, its more than hundred-year-old wooden barrels and you will discover our family history through a scenographic space with immersive video at 180° projected on barrels: unique in France.

Then we invite you to continue the tasting in our tea room space around a brunch: an assortment of sweet and savory delicacies: pastries, bread and Alsatian jam, Alsatian cheeses, cold cuts, fresh fruit salad, salty tartines, bowl (bibelaskaes, granola and fruits) + a hot drink of your choice and a fruit juice.

A guide is at your disposal throughout the visit to discuss and answer your questions.

For the children, they can choose on site!

WHAT TO EXPECT

1: Zeyssolff - Au Peche Vigneron

Tasting begins in our wine shop, followed by a video explaining how Alsace wines are made (suitable for children).

Then we visit our cellar, with its wooden barrels over a hundred years old, and you discover our family history through a scenographic space with an immersive 180° video projected onto the barrels: unique in France.

We continue the tasting in our tearoom area over brunch: a glass of crémant and an assortment of sweet and salty local delicacies.

The experience is available in French or English, depending on the time slot: please check language options before booking!
