Paris

Paris is regarded as one of the most dynamic cities in Europe, and for good reason. The city assaults the senses, demanding to be seen, heard, touched, tasted, and smelled. Gaze at impressive monuments and savor its gourmet cheeses, chocolates, wines, and seafood. Paris is relatively small as capitals go, with many of its major sights and museums within walking distance of each other. Trier (Treves)

Founded under Augustus in 16 BC, Augusta Treverorum Trier became the second Rome. It is Germany's oldest city with buildings and monuments, dating from Roman and later periods. The city is rich not only in art and tradition but also as one of Germany's largest wine exporters. It is also the birthplace of Karl Marx and a university town with a lively nightlife. Don't miss the 'Altstadtfest' when the whole city is one big party with lots of live events, local food, wine and beer.

Koblenz

Koblenz has a rich history dating back over 2000 years. The city is surrounded by four low mountain ranges and forms a triangle with the Mosel and Rhine rivers. Directly where the Rhine River meets the Mosel River is one of its major landmarks, the so-called German Corner (Deutsches Eck). On top of the hill on the Rhine shore the old fortress, Ehrenbreitstein, overlooks Koblenz and the German Corner. Strolling around the Old Town feels like walking in an open air museum. The many statues and monuments on the squares around town are evidence of the long history that the city is known for.

Wurzburg

Würzburg, the capital of Lower Franconia, is one of the loveliest baroque cities in the country and became famous as the center of Franconian wine production. It is called 'the town of Madonnas' because of the more than 100 statues of its patron saint that adorn its house fronts. It is also the best place to start driving the Romantic Road. The liveliest place in town is the Markt (central marketplace) where street performers entertain and vendors hawk their wares, ranging from fresh fruit to souvenir trinkets.

Nuremberg

Don't miss the city's churches including Frauenkirche St. Lorenze Kirche and St. Sebaldus Kirche and the Albrecht Durer House where the artist lived for 20 years.
