The natural beauty of Harare is astonishing. Famous for its beautiful jacaranda-lined streets, especially in the Avenues suburbs to the immediate north of the city centre. Harare is the site of the University of Zimbabwe, the largest and most complete institution of higher learning in Zimbabwe. While it’s tempting to rush off to your safari, it’s worth hanging around in Harare to sample its fine dining, very well equipped museums, craft markets and nice bars. Harare got the name in 1982, after being renamed from Fort Salisbury by the British's Pioneer Column. Known as the Pulse of the Nation, it is the leading financial, commerce, communications and houses most Head Offices of Organisations doing business in Zimbabwe.
