Tour hours fluctuate depending on what month of the year it is, so make sure to be aware of the operating hours for the day you want to do your tour.
Once you get to the House of Waterford Crystal and are ready to go on your tour, go behind the scenes at the factory. Waterford Crystal is one of the very few companies who still practice the ancient craft of mold making, and as you go through the factory, youll see little has changed over the centuries.
First up, go into the mold room, and witness blowers shape molten crystal with wooden molds and hand tools. Then, head into the blowing department where you can watch as glowing balls of crystal are put through a 1300-degree furnace. After their time in the furnace, each piece is cut, and sculpted, and engraved to perfection.
After the tour, enjoy some time exploring the retail store. From dining tables to golf trophies, this store houses one of the worlds largest collections of Waterford Crystals. If you need a break at any time during the day, theres also a café you can pop into for a bite to eat or a beverage (own expense).1: House Of WaterfordAt the House of Waterford Crystal, there is a manufacturing plant, and brand experience in Waterford, where we produce crystal and give visitors an opportunity to visit the factory and see how we make our beautiful products.
On the tour, guests visit the mould room where they witness mould making a technique that has remained unchanged throughout the centuries, as the Master Blowers shape the molten crystal flawlessly with the use of wooden moulds and hand tools. The next part of the tour is truly magical, as visitors enter the blowing department where they see glowing balls of crystal transformed into majestic shapes as they are put through the 1300-degree furnace. The Waterford Crystal pieces are then hand marked for precision and accuracy, and they are then cut, sculpted and engraved.
While getting this behind the scenes sneak peak of this highly skilled method of crystal manufacturing, visitors also see the high standards that the House of Waterford Crystal has for each and every piece that leaves the factory.
The crystal is inspected at each stage of production, so each piece no matter how small goes through six inspections, and if it fails to reach the Waterford Crystal standards at any stage it is smashed and returned to the furnace to be re-melted so that the piece can be started again. The tour is fully guided and takes approx 50 minutes to complete.
On completion of the tour, visitors can experience over 12,000 sq ft of crystal heaven in the largest retail and showcase of Waterford Crystal in the world. The retail store represents everything that is made in crystal, including a showcase on golf and sport, which is a major part of the international business at the House of Waterford Crystal.
The main feature in the retail store is a centre dining table, with twelve Waterford Crystal Chandeliers on display. The lifestyle displays communicate the various brand stories including the Jo Sampson Collection, John Rocha, Jeff Letham and the core Waterford Crystal patterns.
The product range includes Waterford Crystal, House of Waterford Crystal, John Rocha, Jasper Conran, Jo Sampson, Archive Stemware, Marquis, Lighting, Holiday Heirlooms and the new Waterford Crystal Jewellery Collection.
Waterford Crystal continues to provide some of the most prestigious trophies to the worlds great sporting events made at the facility, and some of these trophies are on display in the retail store.
The Crystal café is open seven days a week, a daytime cafe, the Crystal Café is all about great food using nothing but the best locally sourced seasonal produce supporting as many Irish suppliers as possible along the way.
The menu offers café-style dining, incorporating scrumptious salads, soups, wraps, ciabattas and other healthy options, with fresh baking daily.1 hour -Admission Ticket IncludedADDITIONAL INFOWheelchair accessibleInfants and small children can ride in a pram or strollerService animals allowedPublic transportation options are available nearbyTransportation options are wheelchair accessibleAll areas and surfaces are wheelchair accessibleSuitable for all physical fitness levelsChildren must be accompanied by an adultParking is available at the rear of the House of Waterford Crystal, in Bolten Street Public Car park: Cost is 1 per hourNot wheelchair accessibleThis tour/activity will have a maximum of 10 travelersCANCELLATION POLICYFor a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.(For information purpose only - definite start times will show on voucher, once confirmed) -

Standing at the apex of Waterford's Viking Triangle the tower features in many historical episodes from Strongbow to Cromwell, Perkin Warbeck, King James II and many more.Hook Head (Pass by)In the 5th century a Welsh monk named Dubhán, seeking to lead a life of solitude, founded a monastery on the site where the old church of Churchtown now stands, 1.6 km north of Hook Head overlooking the entrance into Waterford Harbour. The promontory became known as Rinn Dubhán or Point of Dubhan. By coincidence, the word dubhán or duáin in the Irish language means fishing hook. Following the Anglo-Norman invasion, Dubhán was translated to Hook or Point of Hook. Later it was also known as Hook Head and sometimes just The Hook. The Monks maintained a fire on the peninsula as a beacon to ships. Today it is one of the oldest operational lighthouses in the world.Waterford Castle Golf Club (Pass by)A monastic settlement existed on Little Island from the 6th to the 8th Century A.D. A carving of a monks head from this period adorns the castle entrance to this day. The Vikings arrived in the 9th century and two fortifications were constructed on Island Vryk Danes Island. The Normans came next invading in 1170 and Maurice Fitzgerald, Stongbows cousin, was held prisoner on Little Island by the Ossermen during the conquest. He was duly rewarded with much land in the aftermath and thusly the island would become home to the Earls of Kildare for eight centuries.Mount Congreve Gardens (Pass by)Mount Congreve Gardens in Irelands Ancient East is home to one of the great gardens of the World. Home to six generations of Congreves and built in 1760 by the celebrated local architect John Roberts who also designed the two city Cathedrals. The Gardens comprise around seventy acres of woodland, a four acre walled garden and 16 kms of walkways. Overlooking the River Suir, Mount Congreve consists of three thousand different trees & shrubs, two thousand Rhododendrons, six hundred Camellias, three hundred Acer cultivars, six hundred conifers, two hundred and fifty climbers and fifteen hundred herbaceous plants. When one plants anything, whether it involves five or fifty plants, they should be planted together and not dotted here and there. Ambrose Congreve. Ambrose inherited the estate in 1963 and transformed the estate into a world class garden. Flora from all over the world were imported delivered directly to his private dock on the Suir. The gardens have won multiple awards.Grannagh Castle (Pass by)Grannagh Castle, a large square enclosure with cylindrical towers, stands dramatically on the foreshore or the River Suir. James Butler, 3rd Earl of Ormonde, built the castle in the 14th century. Legend has it that the wife of the 8th Earl was a witch. One day looking downriver from the castle window she saw her greatest foe (also a witch) approaching so she conjured a storm to deter her rival, in response the other witch caused horns to grow from Margarets head, she therefore could not withdraw from the from the window. Strange noises are heard from the ruins during stormy weather. The Butlers lost the castle to Cromwell in 1649.ADDITIONAL INFOService animals allowedPublic transportation options are available nearbyInfants are required to sit on an adults lapSuitable for all physical fitness levelsNot wheelchair accessibleThis tour/activity will have a maximum of 8 travelersCANCELLATION POLICYFor a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time. This experience requires good weather.
