WHAT TO EXPECT

This full-day Jericho-and-Bethlehem tour begins with a Jerusalem hotel pickup in an air-conditioned coach.

On the main highway between Jerusalem and Jericho, in the Judean Desert, pass the Inn of the Good Samaritan, mentioned in the New Testament's parable of the Good Samaritan and the famous roadside sea level marker. From here, enjoy a view of the Jordan Valley where Jesus was baptized.

In Jericho, the oldest city in the world, look for the sycamore tree that Zacchaeus, the tax collector, climbed to get a better view of Jesus when he was there on his way to Jerusalem. Above Jericho is the Mount of Temptation, where Jesus, after praying and fasting for 40 days and 40 nights, was tempted by the devil.

At this halfway point of the tour, stop for lunch (own expense) in a restaurant in Jericho before making the trip to Bethlehem.

In Bethlehem, explore the Church of the Nativity and the Grotto, a holy place with the cave in which the birth of Jesus of Nazareth is said to have occurred. Manger Square is where the majority of religious activity in Bethlehem takes place, with the Church of the Nativity and the Mosque of Omar, the oldest and only mosque in the old city of Bethlehem and a site of great meaning for those Muslims who live in the city.

See where Jesus was placed in a manger after his birth. Tradition has it that while Mary was nursing Jesus here, a drop of milk fell to the ground, turning it white.

Stop by the local Greek and Catholic churches before going to Shepherds' Field, where Luke 2:8 declares: 'Shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.' It is believed an angel announced the birth of Jesus here.

The tour concludes with a return trip to the Jerusalem hotels.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Start with morning pickup at your hotel in Jerusalem, then begin the trip to the Sea of Galilee. The first stop of the day is Magdala, the site of an ancient fishing village with a Second Temple-era synagogue, which is believed to have been in use during Jesus lifetime.

Continue towards the western shore of the Sea of Galilee, and visit the Yigal Allon Museum, where youll see the remains of a 1st-century fishing boat that was discovered in the Sea of Galilee. Drive north around the Sea to the Mount of Beatitudes, which Matthew and Luke identify as the location of the Sermon on the Mount. Visit the Catholic chapel on top of the mountain, where Jesus is said to have multiplied fishes and loaves, saying Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

The final stop of the day is Cana, site of the Biblical wedding where Jesus turned water into wine. Visit the Franciscan Wedding Church that commemorates the event, and after your time in Cana, begin the return trip to Jerusalem. This tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel in Jerusalem.

This full-day tour begins with a Jerusalem hotel pickup in an air-conditioned coach.

Begin at Mount of Olives for a scenic overview of the entire city of Jerusalem. This mountain ridge is east of the Old City and named for the olive groves that once covered its slopes. The Mount has been a site of Christian worship since ancient times and continues to be a place of pilgrimage for Eastern Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant believers. According to the gospels, a number of important events in the life of Jesus took place here, including where he ascended into heaven.

Next, take a short drive to Mount Zion to see Davids Tomb and the Last Supper Room, where Jesus shared the Last Supper with the disciples. Pass through the Jewish cemetery in Kidron Valley and into the Old Citys Jewish Quarter through Zions Gate, also known as Davids Gate, to explore the Four Sephardic Synagogues, four interconnected synagogues built at different periods in time to accommodate the religious needs of a distinct community (Sephardic) of Jews.

Finally, arrive at the City of David, located on a narrow ridge just to the south of the Old City. The archaeological exploration of the City of David began in the middle of the 19th century and continues today. Above ground, the City of David is a hub of activity, but underground Jerusalem is where recent excavations reveal the most exciting archaeological finds of the ancient world.

Two thousand years ago a very unique community settled in Qumran. Using the water from the river bed, they created a society based on purity, comradeship, study, and writing texts. Walking through the archeological remains of their village, we see how they survived in the desert, using water where there is almost none, and searching for God far away from any city or distraction.

5: Qasr Al-Yahud Baptismal Site

The "mighty" Jordan is actually a slow meandering river, with plants and greenery abound. Just above is the stark desert, almost void of life. This is the scenery of both John the Baptist and Joshua. You can go in to this same water and view people who have come to be baptised on both the Israeli and Jordanian banks.

WHAT TO EXPECT

This full-day tour begins with an early morning central Jerusalem pickup in an air-conditioned minivan. Enjoy the trip through the Judean Desert, past biblical sites like the Inn of the Good Samaritan and Jericho, the oldest city in the world, along the way.

Stop at Masada, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, located in the Judean Desert and situated on top of an isolated rock plateau overlooking the Dead Sea. Walk along the famous Snake Path to the summit just in time for a beautiful sunrise view. Aside from the breathtaking view, spend some time exploring the archaeological ruins here. It was built as a palace complex in the style of the early Roman Empire by Herod the Great, King of Judaea.

Travel back down the mountain on foot or by cable car and continue on to the beautiful Ein Gedi Nature Reserve. This is one of Israels premier hiking spots with a wide variety of landscapes, waterfalls, and botanical gardens. Take a short hike along the springs, stopping to relax by the refreshing pools along the way. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase here as well.

Finally, spend some time relaxing on the beach at the Dead Sea. Feel years younger after applying mineral-rich black mud and floating or swimming in the ultra-salty lake water. Its an experience unlike any other in the world.

The tour concludes here, where you'll board the minivan for a return trip to Jerusalem.

1: Masada National Park

Leaving Jerusalem, well travel south through the beautiful Judean Desert to the foot of the Masada fortress which stands beside the Dead Sea. Youll take a cable car to the top of the fortress, enjoy the special views, and explore the archaeological ruins. Masada is one of Israels most important archaeological sites, and the site of one of the greatest tales of Jewish heroism. The excavated ruins are fascinating to explore, and the remarkable location high above the surrounding desert and the Dead Sea, makes this an impressive experience. Youll ascend to the top of Masada via a cable car.

2: En Gedi Nature Reserve

We will drive to Ein Gedi, a desert oasis where you can take a short hike, where youll likely encounter mountain goats and other creatures among the vegetation. The nature reserve includes a stream of cool running water, leading to various pools and refreshing springs, where you are welcome to bathe on hot days.

3: Dead Sea

The last part of the tour is spent at the lowest point on earth, the Dead Sea. Enjoy the salty waters and rejuvenating therapeutic mud, floating and relaxing, before we return to Jerusalem.

WHAT TO EXPECT

This relaxing, full-day spa tour begins with a Jerusalem hotel pickup in an air-conditioned coach. Travel from Jerusalem, through the wilderness of the Judean Desert, to the Dead Sea.

Make a brief stop at the roadside 'sea level' marker where the city of Jericho, the oldest city in the world, can be seen from a distance.

Upon arrival, change into a swimsuit and head to the Dead Sea. At 1,312 feet (400 meters) below sea level, this is the lowest place on earth. In fact, its so low that any cancerous sun rays are filtered out. After applying a covering of mineral-rich black mud, wash it off in a sulphur pool. Then, its time for a therapeutic swim or float in the Dead Sea. The salt level here is almost 35 percent, so those who cant swim can easily float.

After your rejuvenating treatment, see the mountains of Moab along the eastern shore of the Dead Sea reflecting off the water. Also, witness the roadside caves of Qumran on the northwest shore where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered.
