Cagliari, the gateway to Sardinia, was originally settled by the native Nuralgic peoples over three millennia ago. From that time to the present day, many different civilizations and ethnic groups have made their mark on this diverse and beautiful city, but none more so than the Italians. Cagliari is closer than Tunisia than, say, Rome, but the Italian influence on Cagliari cannot be denied, whether you are in the historic districts of Marina, Stampace, Castello or Villanova, or perhaps exploring sights further afield.

Often ignored in the mad dash to the Emerald Coast, Olbia has more to offer than first meets the eye. Stroll the beautiful waterfront and then walk down the Corso Umberto I, the epicenter of shopping and nightlife in town. Afterwards, take some time to view archaeological ruins and artifacts that educate visitors on the lives people led here as far back as the Phoenician and Roman eras. When you've finished explored Olbia, you can head outside of town and explore everything from beach towns on the Costa Smeralda to the marine reserve on Isola Tavolara, described once upon a time as 'the world's smallest kingdom.'
