Bike Tour of 1h. The departure time varies from 18.50 to 20.00 depending on the season.

An Experience full of 'Good Vibes'. The energy of sunset and the return to dusk. The bike tour will take place on Capo Stella, a promontory overlooking the beach of Lacona. Technically easy but unpaved route that therefore requires a minimum of cycling experience but suitable for beginners.

The tour continues towards the promontory of Capo di Stella, immersed in the scents and intense colors of the Mediterranean scrub. A short and pleasant climb will lead us on a panoramic high-altitude DA road, from which we can admire the different sides of the Island of Elba, kissed by the sunset light. Return at dusk, turning on the light on the bike (if needed), towards the starting point (Elba MTB Lacona).

Adventure in e-mtb crossing the island from south to north, from Lacona to Tenuta La Chiusa. Already during the first ascent towards Monte Orello, it will be possible to see the eastern part of the island from a privileged position. Then descending in a northerly direction, Portoferraio will rise up in front of us in all its beauty. After the descent we will find ourselves immersed in a setting of other times, entering the historic Tenuta La Chiusa (first testimonies 1500). 1: Torre della Linguella

The Torre del Martello or Torre della Linguella, immediately recognizable at the entrance to the port of Portoferraio due to its octagonal shape, owes its construction to the early sixteenth century by the Medici, lords of Portoferraio. It is a supreme example of military architecture in defense of the port.

2: Portoferraio

Portoferraio, the capital of the Island of Elba, is a city of ancient origins, which still retains its Renaissance charm today. The capital and main port of the island, Portoferraio has just under 12,000 inhabitants. City of ancient origins and known as Porto Argo in mythological narratives, since the Etruscan-Roman era it has been called Fabricia in reference to the ancient iron and steel works present in the area.

Le Viste is a beach close to the historic center of Portoferraio, dominated by the ancient Medici walls. Le Viste is a beautiful beach located in the immediate vicinity of the historic center of Portoferraio. It is located near the Villa dei Mulini, Napoleon's winter residence, and is dominated by the majestic fortress of Forte Falcone.

4: Spiaggia delle Ghiaie

Le Ghiaie is one of the most beautiful beaches in Portoferraio, with small and comfortable smooth white pebbles. It is a biological protection area, ideal for diving.
Very close to the historic center of Portoferraio, the Ghiaie beach is famous for the incomparable beauty of its seabed and white pebbles smoothed by the sea, stained, according to a legend, by the drops of sweat of the Argonauts.

5: Spiaggia di Enfola

Located on the north coast of the Island of Elba, the Capo Enfola peninsula is characterized by a thin isthmus of land (just 70 meters wide) that connects Monte Enfola (135 m) with the rest of the island, creating one of the most suggestive Elban peninsulas and giving rise to two beaches: one opposite the other.
The north-facing beach is the least welcoming. Small in size and made up of uncomfortable stones, it is almost entirely used as storage for the small boats of local fishermen.
The other beach, the only one on the northern side facing south, towards the Gulf of Viticcio, is the most welcoming and sheltered.
150 meters long, it is made up of medium-fine gray pebbles and divided by a small landing pier, whose docking is only allowed for boarding-disembarking maneuvers, and a buoy field managed by the Amici dell'Enfola Association.
The pier is also used by children and teenagers who enjoy diving.

6: Percorso dell'Enfola

From the car park in front of the headquarters of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park (one of the old Tonnare of the Island of Elba).
The Enfola promontory is one of the most evocative places on the island, falling within the territory of the National Park. The peculiarity of this place is given by the fact that the promontory of Capo Enfola is joined to the rest of the island by a narrow isthmus of land and that here there are various historical testimonies dating back to the Second World War.
The tour starts from the road on the right of the Park headquarters that climbs with wide hairpin bends on the side of the hill.
Along the climb it is possible to see some war ruins, the remains of an imposing defensive system dating back to the Second World War, alternating with surprising panoramic views: to the west on the Gulf of Viticcio up to Sant'Andrea and to the east on the white beaches of Portoferraio, the canal of Piombino and the continent.

7: Enfola - Portoferraio

The military structures of the Capo Enfola peninsula were built in the period between the two world wars, as part of the "Coastal Defense" plan that affected all of Italy between 1935 and 1938.
The coastal battery was built to control the stretch of water that separates Elba from the Tuscan coast from Corsica. It was manned by about 200 men and equipped with four cannons with a range capable of covering a firing area that overlapped the twin post at the tip of the Falcone in Piombino.
To make the anti-aircraft parts usable even at night, powerful photelectric projectors were used capable of illuminating the sea in front and the Piombino canal during the day. Furthermore, aerial systems and telemetry turrets were used to target large-caliber artillery pieces.

8: Spiaggia Della Biodola

Leaving Portoferraio and continuing towards Procchio, in the locality of Capannone, one cannot fail to notice one of the most fascinating and famous gulfs of Elba: that of Biodola.
The beach is characterized by a natural amphitheater consisting of the reliefs of Serone delle Cime, Capannone and Colle Pecorara richly covered by a dense coppice and Mediterranean scrub, which is matched by the view of Monte Perone and Capanne (1019 m) on the sea.
Its position exposes it to north-west winds while it is protected from south winds.

Miniere di Capoliveri (Pass by)

What remains of the Calamita mine, closed for economic reasons in 1981, are the remains of the last excavations, the extraction and treatment plants for iron minerals, cutting-edge projects for those times given that it was the most modern and richest in Europe .

Monte Calamita (Pass by)

Toponym attested from the 16th century and which derives from magnetite, the iron ore of which the local mines are rich, is found in the municipality of Capoliveri, in the south-eastern part of the island of Elba.

2: Galleria del Ginevro

Ginevro was the largest and most productive magnetite gallery in Europe, the flagship of Italian iron and steel production.

External excavations are somewhat limited, because unlike Calamita and the other mines on Elba, it is the only one where internal excavation has been undertaken through boreholes and galleries which starting from +6 meters developed on various levels up to to reach 54 meters below sea level.

In operation from 1971 to 1981, it was one of the most modern mines in Europe, built with very innovative criteria for the time.

2: Villa San Martino Residenza Napoleonica

The Villa di San Martino, Napoleon's summer residence, is located in the middle of the countryside, about 5 km from Portoferraio.

Napoleon bought the property from the Manganaro family in 1814, with the intention of transforming it into a comfortable and refined residence, which had nothing to envy to the Parisian residences. He then made several changes including: the enlargement of the building, the renovation of the façade, with the arrangement of an airy hanging garden overlooking the harbor of Portoferraio, and the interior decoration.

3: Spiaggia Della Biodola

Leaving Portoferraio and continuing towards Procchio, in the locality of Capannone, one cannot fail to notice one of the most fascinating and famous gulfs of Elba: that of Biodola.
The beach is characterized by a natural amphitheater consisting of the reliefs of Serone delle Cime, Capannone and Colle Pecorara richly covered by a dense coppice and Mediterranean scrub, which is matched by the view of Monte Perone and Capanne (1019 m) on the sea.
Its position exposes it to north-west winds while it is protected from south winds.

4: Spiaggia di Enfola

Located on the north coast of the Island of Elba, the Capo Enfola peninsula is characterized by a thin isthmus of land (just 70 meters wide) that connects Monte Enfola (135 m) with the rest of the island, creating one of the most suggestive Elban peninsulas and giving rise to two beaches: one opposite the other.
The north-facing beach is the least welcoming. Small in size and made up of uncomfortable stones, it is almost entirely used as storage for the small boats of local fishermen.
The other beach, the only one on the northern side facing south, towards the Gulf of Viticcio, is the most welcoming and sheltered.
150 meters long, it is made up of medium-fine gray pebbles and divided by a small landing pier, whose docking is only allowed for boarding-disembarking maneuvers, and a buoy field managed by the Amici dell'Enfola Association.
The pier is also used by children and teenagers who enjoy diving.

5: Portoferraio

Portoferraio, the capital of the Island of Elba, is a city of ancient origins, which still retains its Renaissance charm today. The capital and main port of the island, Portoferraio has just under 12,000 inhabitants. City of ancient origins and known as Porto Argo in mythological narratives, since the Etruscan-Roman era it has been called Fabricia in reference to the ancient iron and steel works present in the area.

6: Torre della Linguella

The Torre del Martello or Torre della Linguella, immediately recognizable at the entrance to the port of Portoferraio due to its octagonal shape, owes its construction to the early sixteenth century by the Medici, lords of Portoferraio. It is a supreme example of military architecture in defense of the port.

Le Ghiaie is one of the most beautiful beaches in Portoferraio, with small and comfortable smooth white pebbles. It is a biological protection area, ideal for diving.
Very close to the historic center of Portoferraio, the Ghiaie beach is famous for the incomparable beauty of its seabed and white pebbles smoothed by the sea, stained, according to a legend, by the drops of sweat of the Argonauts.

La Birra dell'Elba was born in 2007, in Rio Marina, together with the opening of a small Brew Pub, where people begin to know and taste our beer, over time the requests from bars, restaurants and hotels that want the Birra dell'Elba increase, and this means that it is necessary to have ever larger spaces, up to today with the current Portoferraio brewery that produces 200,000 bottles and 1,000 kegs per year, against the previous 2,000 bottles and 250 initial kegs .

WHAT TO EXPECT

Bike tour of 1h30': Departure at about 22.00 from Elba MTB Capoliveri (Tenuta delle Ripalte) and arrival after an hour and a half back in Tenuta delle Ripalte. In the meantime, we will make various scenic stops (PS: the departure time varies according to the season).

An activity that will remain carved in your mind. The energy you breathe at Tenuta delle Ripalte is unique. The unspoilt nature, the non-existent traffic (we are in the middle of Mount Calamita with the 1st village, Capoliveri, spaced by 7km of dirt road) and the magic of the night, will make it all really special.

The bike part will take place on Mount Calamita and on the private property of Tenuta delle Ripalte. Simple but dirt track at night, which therefore requires a minimum of bike experience.

Return to the starting point (Bike Center Elba, in the center of Tenuta delle Ripalte) after about 1h30'. After the tour, possibility to drink / snack at the bar of the Tenuta delle Ripalte, a few meters from the Bike Center.

1: Forte Falcone

The fort was build by Cosimo I of The Medici family in 1548, it is one of the landmarks of the town. The structure is an amazing military architecture, just to mention some small details all the loopholes have a distinct direction to be able to see the sea and the land from every angle. The Fort can be seen from the outside or can be visited internally, where you will see the galleries that were turned into the quarters of the Royal Marine during World War II. There are also the XVI century underground tunnels and the beltway that offer astonishing views on the archipelago.

2: Villa Dei Mulini

Napoleon Buonaparte stood in his first exile, 1814, on the island for 10 months, he was recognised as Elba sovereign of the island, his main residence was the Palazzina dei Mulini, in the old town between the fortresses which comprehends his apartments, his sister's apartment and a lovely garden overlooking the sea inside the walls.

Once you reach the top of the village of Capoliveri, continue towards the Calamita mine / Ripe Alte (as indicated). Don't worry if the road becomes a dirt road. Arrived in Tenuta delle Ripalte (asphalt road), the Bike Center is located about 200m ahead on the right.

WHAT TO EXPECT

1: Tenuta delle Ripalte

Here, where the green of the Mediterranean maquis fades into the blue of the sea, lies our Tenuta delle Ripalte resort on the Island of Elba, on the Costa dei Gabbiani. A place away from chaos and close to heaven, where time stops and follows the slow pace of nature, where the rust-red earth nourishes centuries-old pine trees and precious vines.
Tenuta delle Ripalte is located 9 km from the town of Capoliveri on Monte Calamita, reachable after 4 km of white road, a suggestive route, which prepares you for your arrival in this special place immersed in a dimension of peace that only the most pristine can give.

Miniere di Capoliveri (Pass by)

There were several extraction points on Monte Calamita and you will be able to see the characteristic places where the minerals used to create iron were extracted. Cycling on completely red lands at sunset is an unforgettable experience.

2: Spiaggia dell'Innamorata

Innamorata beach is on the southern slope of Monte Calamita (Capoliveri). Once called Cala de lo Ferro, it is in fact located on the edge of the area of the old iron mines, one of the wildest and least urbanized areas of the Island of Elba.
The remaining time on the tour will be used to travel between attractions.
