The Lowlands of the Province of Parma consist in the plain north of Parma. It is a territory characterized by the respect for ancient traditions, rich in history, art and genuine food, to discover and enjoy at a slow pace. Our route to the discovery of the Parma Lowlands starts crossing the strip of land running from the Parma Morta Reserve to Maria Luigias Woods in Torricella, near the meandering of the Taro river, to reach San Secondo Parmense, Roccabianca, places where it seems as if time has stood still.

We will see the Roccabianca Castle (exterior), that was built around mid 1400 by Pier Maria Rossi for his beloved Bianca Pellegrini, the beautiful frescoes and heraldic emblems in the portico that a recent restauration has brought to light. The castle is home to the Museum of Distillery.

Parma Cathedral is a roman catholic Cathedral in Parma, dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Cathedral remains one of the most notable examples of the Romanesque art of the Po Valley. Its construction began in the second half of the 11th and continued over several centuries. Like the baptistry the Cathedral was embellished by architect Benedetto Antelami, noteworthy his Deposition from the Cross in the right transept; not to be missed is the surprising decoration of the Dome, painted by a highly influential illusionistic fresco by Renaissance painter Antonio da Correggio, the great master of Parma painting in the italian '500.

The villa is located just outside the city centre of Parma. The ride by car or taxi will take about 10 mins from the city centre. You can also reach the Villa by a 35 minutes walk. If you arrive from other cities, please contact us to receive our best quote for a private trasfer.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Every successful cooking class must start with a nice aperitivo! Meet the local cook at her own villa at 10:30 am (lunch option) or at 4:30 pm (dinner option) and before getting your hands dirty sit in a gorgeous garden of the villa and enjoy some finger-food with a glass of wine while chit-chatting with your hostess.

COOKING CLASS

Observe the cook at work and learn how to prepare fresh egg pasta from the scratch.
During the cooking class you will prepare two types of pasta - classical tagliatelle with tomato and basil and tortelli derbetta, traditional pasta with a filling of ricotta cheese, spinach and Parmigiano Reggiano, a must-try in Parma. You will be hands-on for the entire cooking class.
Listen to the cooks secrets and have fun learning all the secrets of Parma cuisine!

LUNCH/DINNER

In a nice setting of the villa, sit at a table together with your cook and savor your meal matched with some excellent local wine.
Round off the experience with a local crunchy almond cake sbrisolona and a good coffee.
