WHAT TO EXPECT

The workshop aims at the knowledge of this ancient art, with brief historical notes and an approach to all the materials necessary for the creation of a small stained glass window... to be worn! From the design project to the cutting of the cardboard templates, from the tracing of the model on the specially selected glass to the cutting of the glass with an oil glass cutter and subsequent detachment with the appropriate pliers, up to the welding of the small work of art. During the activity we allow ourselves a few minutes for a break with drinks, tea or coffee.

WHAT TO EXPECT

1: Colosseum

The Colosseum was built during the Roman period by the Flavi emperors with the name of "Flavian Amphiteatre", but it is know like Colosseum because near it there was a colossal statue in bronze of emperor Nero.

This place was built to offer at the Roman population entertainment and distractions. It was used for fights between gladiators and to show hunting scenes with exotic and fierce animals.

Already included in the list of World Heritage by UNESCO, in 2007 in was also declared one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

2: Roman Forum

The archaeological area of the Roman Forum is between the Palatin Hill, the Campidoglio, Via dei Fori Imperiali and the Colosseum. Walking through the Forum you can still see the remains of the buildings and monuments of the Roman Age. It represented the religious, political, legal and ecomonic centre of the city of Rome.

There are a lot of monuments alredy visible during a stroll, like: the Basilica of Maxenzius,, Arc of Tito, the Temple of Romulus and so on.

3: Trevi Fountain

The Trevi Fountain is perhaps the most famous fountain in the world. The origin of the fountain dates back to 19 BC, when the aqueduct termination was established, the Aqua Virgo. The first fountain was built in the Renaissance, commissioned by Pope Nicholas V. Its current appearance was by the sculptor Gian Lorenzo Bernini.

Tied to the fountain is the tradition of throwing a coin into the water to ensure the return to the eternal city. If instead they are launched two will find the great love, perhaps of Italian nationality; a third coin, finally, is to make sure you get married early. In order for it to work, it is recommended to throw the coin with the right hand over the left shoulder.

4: Piazza Navona

Piazza Navona is certainly the most elegant Roman square, built on the pre-existing Stadium of Domitian.

Used in ancient times for athletic competitions and competitions of various kinds, today the square hosts street artists, painters and portraitists every day.

In the center of the square is the Fountain of the Four Rivers, designed by Bernini in 1651. The four statues of the fountain represent the most important rivers of the period: the Nile, the Danube, the Ganges and the Rio de la Plata. On the sides there are two other fountains: the Fountain of Moor and the Fountain of Neptune.

Among the buildings that characterize the square are the Doria-Pamphili Palace and the church of Sant'Agnese.

5: Pantheon

The Pantheon is one of the masterpieces of Roman architecture, one of the best preserved of ancient Rome. Its construction was completed at the time of Emperor Hadrian, in 126 AD, where previously there was a temple built at the behest of Agrippa in 27 BC, but which was destroyed by a fire in 80 AD.

At the beginning of the seventh century the building was donated to Pope Bonifacio IV who transformed it into a church, which is why it is in a perfect state of conservation.

Inside the Pantheon there are the tombs of the kings of Italy and various works of art, including the tomb of the painter Raffello Sanzio.

6: Vatican Museums

The origins of these museums date back to 1503, when Pope Julius II donated his private collection. From that moment on, both the family of the pope and other popes, increased the collection of museums, until it became one of the largest in the world.

Inside, among the numerous exhibition spaces, it is possible to visit the Pio-Clementino Museum, created by the collections of the Popes Clement XIV and Pius VI, in which are kept the most important Greek works of the Vatican; the Gallery of Geographical Maps, in which the frescoed maps on the walls represent the Italian regions and the various papal possessions; the Raffaello Rooms, frescoed by the great Italian painter and his descendants and representing the apartments of Pope Julius II.

7: Sistine Chapel

The Sistine Chapel is one of the most important treasures of the Vatican, and beyond. It owes its fame to its frescoes but also to the fact that here the Popes are elected.

The construction of the building took place between 1473 and 1481, during the papacy of Pope Sixtus IV, from which the Chapel takes its name. The project was entrusted to the architect Giovanni de Dolci, remembered only for the design of this architectural work.

To make the chapel a unique jewel are its frescoes that decorate the walls and the ceiling. The task of decorating it was assigned to important Tuscan and Umbrian painters of the time, such as Botticelli, Perugino and Michelangelo.

Among the most famous works inside there is the masterpiece of Michelangelo, "The Last Judgment", a large fresco taken from the book of the Apocalypse of John.

The painter took five years to fresco the apse, from 1536 to 1541. The assignment was assigned to him by Pope Clement VII, to replace the frescoes that previously decorated the walls of the apse.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Your morning starts with pickup from your hotel in central Rome by air-conditioned minivan. Settle in for a several-hour drive to Pompeii Archaeological Park.

On arrival in Pompeii, skip the ticket lines and the crowds trying to get into the popular attraction, and take a guided tour covering much of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

WHAT TO EXPECT
At 5:00am most of Rome is still asleep but we will get a jump start on the day and set out to explore the city in it's full splender. Since this is probably the most beautiful time to fully appreciate the Eternal City you can maximize the opportunities to visit more sites in just 3 hours than is possible later in the day. Pictures will be amazing with first the moon and then with the sun coming up.

Pick up in a comfortable Mercedes minivan, we will start with throwing the coin into the Trevi Fountain and make the special wish to come back to Rome, then stop at the Spanish Steps for a run down to the famous Piazza di Spagna. Piazza del Popolo is the next stop where the Catholic Church used to do the public executions till the 19 cent. In Piazza Venezia you will be able to see where Mussolini used to talk to his crowds and the Colosseum is just a few minutes driving. Next stop....the Pantheon one of Raphael's favourite places in Rome. After some amazing pictures of the Pantheon we will drive over river Tiber for a stop on the Tiberina Island and then the beautiful Gianicolo hill where the most beautiful view of Rome will be at your feet. At this point you will be ready for a great Cappuccino & Cornetto while the dome of the Vatican is higlighted by the rising sun.

It's not a simple driving around the city but you will be able to stop and get off the van many times, take pictures, make questions, explore and learn the history and the secrets of each site with the expertise of your Driver Guide.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Head to your mosaic workshop on Via Urbana in Rome. Youll start your creative experience with an introduction to Roman mosaic techniques and history. Then, youll start cutting your marble tiles and plan the textures youd like to create with your composition.

With the guidance of your teacher, youll create a traditional piece that follows the best principles of Roman mosaic design, ready to take home and remind you of your Rome vacation.

The workshop begins with an introduction to the history and techniques of Roman mosaics. Afterwards, youll learn and practice the key principles of texture, composition, and marble tile cutting to create your very own mosaic to take home.

Our goal is to teach the authentic methods of traditional Roman mosaic craftsmanship, so your artwork will meet the same standards and requirements as ancient pieces.

By the end of the session, youll have created a personal mosaic approximately 7 x 5 (about 18 x 13 cm) and weighing around 14 oz (about 400 g) to take with you as a unique souvenir.

This is a full immersion experience: youll work in a real mosaic studio and use professional tools. For safety reasons, we recommend this activity for participants aged 12 and above.

After meeting your guide near the Piramide metro station in Rome, youll board your train together for the trip out of the city to Ostia Antica.

While the archaeological site is sometimes dubbed little Pompeii, Ostia Antica is anything but little with a huge collection of well-preserved ruins, a steep amphitheater, mosaics, and even a bathing complex. Skip feeling overwhelmed, and follow your guide straight to the highlights, while hearing tales of Ostia in its glory days as the port city of ancient Rome.

Pass along the main street of Decumanus Maximus, admire the Baths of Neptune, take photos from the sizeable amphitheater, and stroll amid the ruined shops and living quarters. After, youll walk back to the train station and return to Rome by train with your guide.

Your tour starts at a meeting location in Rome, where youll meet your guide, who provides your round-trip train ticket. Then hop aboard the train for the ride southwest of Rome to Ostia Antica, which lies near the coast.

When you arrive, take a 2.5-hour leisurely walking tour through the ancient ruins, noting their highly preserved state for which this archaeological site is so renowned. Dating as far back as the 4th century BC, the ruins include structures like an amphitheater, the Forum of the Corporations, the Collegiate Temple, taverns and public baths. Once home to more than 100,000 people, Ostia was the port city of Ancient Rome.

Walk along the main road, Decumanus Maximus, while your guide tells you stories about life in town. Admire the intact Roman statues that line the walkways; pass by the Baths of Neptune, crowned by a mosaic that depicts the Roman god of the sea behind a 4-hourse chariot; and take a seat in the amphitheater, which dates back to 12 BC and was built to hold 3,500 spectators. 3: Catacombe di San Callisto

In the 4-hour tour, a short pause to contemplate the massive burial underground, resting place to half a million souls. Please note: on Wednesdays, this stop is not included in the 4-hour tour.

In the 6-hour tour, a 45-minute guided visit of these 2nd-century catacombs, in all their complexity and mystery! Note: On Wednesdays, the 6-hour tour will visit the Catacombs of San Sebastiano (instead of those of San Callixtus).

Please note that approximately 40% of the route of this tour takes place in the city. We ride carefully chosen city streets, but some traffic is unavoidable to connect the Ancient Appian Way Park to the Aqueducts Park. In the remaining 60% of the route (riding in the parks) we encounter no traffic.

You will cover an area of approximately 17 miles (27km), 60% of which takes place off-road. The difficulty level of this tour is intermediate (difficult with a child seat or child extension mounted on the bicycle).

Infants under 1 year are not allowed to participate for safety reasons.

Infants aged 1-4 years travelling on a child seat (with load capacity of up to 49 lbs or 22 kg) come on the tour free of charge

For children aged 5-8 years a child extension (child streamliner) is provided.

Children aged 9 and above can autonomously ride on an appropriately sized E-bike.

Minimum of 4 participants applies (total number of participants on tour). There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there are 3 or less passengers on the tour. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative for your tour or full refund.

On Wednesdays, the route includes a deviation, so the tour may last up to half an hour longer (4.5 instead of 4 hours and 6,5 instead of 6 hours). The tours will be 30 minutes longer also in the period January 14 - February 11, 2026

On Easter Sunday (April 5th, 2026), the Catacombs are closed (therefore, the 6-hour tour will not be running)

This tour doesn't include any food or drinks; however, the route offers a few possibilities to purchase some food or drinks (which can be consumed during a suitable break).

Are the tours safe? The answer is: Absolutely! The tours follow carefully planned routes which have limited access to traffic, and some have no traffic at all, meaning you are able to enjoy your ride around the city in total relaxation and safety and you won't have to worry about traffic
